This video is awesome and I love your braided pigtails as a protective style. I'm currently rocking this look as well and I love it! As for your tip about washing the hair less often, I would agree with you completely. I'm currently on a once every 2 weeks schedule to see how my hair will respond; if this doesn't work then I will reassess, but so far so good...

Thank you! Yes, I like this style because its easy to do and undo if needed. Not a ton of manipulation and ends are completely tucked. Glad the stretched wash days are working for you 💚

Knotless braids are a great protective style for me ! I easily cleanse my scalp and my hair stay moisturized. Very little tension , no breakage . It’s also strong and healthy too so that helps 👋🏽

3:35 Thank you. Protective styles IMO are ones where your hair is put away without added hair.

With fine hair most styles with added hair = hair loss for me 😭 The only “safe” one is crochet with loose braids underneath

Assuming someone does all that you mentioned and they reached their maximum anagen phase length I think it’s worth mentioning that measuring hair length based on body areas is very faulty. We should start communicating in centimeters or inches or something. That is why women seem to have longer hair than men and among women the short ones reach “longer” lengths easier and two women could both be 5’5 but one has a torso that is an inch longer so she would not go beyond the waist but the other woman can.

Absolutely we really should be talking about hair length in terms of cm or inches. Because some people get discouraged when an influencer or someone on KZitem makes to to tailbone length so quickly not realizing that person is 4’11 and it’s just a shorter length for them.

But the anagen/catagen/telegen phases exist though. Your hair does shed naturally at a certain length after 5-7 years.
@z4CNatural

Yes, these phases exist but they are actually not a fixed length and are impacted by diet, hormones, stress and external factors. So a person who thinks they have reached their max anagen phase can extend it/break a plateau by working on these factors. Also studies suggest the cycle can be much longer than originally thought - closer to 10 years.

TO ADD, not all hair sheds at the same time, otherwise we’d all be bald 😅

@@z4CNaturalwhew I just asked this and appreciate the response. How do we extend the growth phase? I lost a lot of hair due to PCOS/fibroids/hysterectomy and have turned to Ayurveda, which is healing but I still notice shedding at about 12-13”

Terminal length is real due to the amount of time the hair has to grow before it sheds. This is why your eyebrow hair is never going to grow down to your chest lol. If you have an anagram phase that lasts 3 years with a growth rate of 6 inches per year, that means you have the potential of growing 18 inches of hair in length. Whether your able to retain that amount is dependent on your hair care.

Eyebrow hair is not head of hair 😬

So I thought that the Anagen phase differs for each person and some folks are limited to a 2 year phase? So if they grow .5 in a month, and the follicle dies at 2 years, would that not limit that person to a 12” length?

Love this video. Could you please do a video on how to avoid shrinkage of 4C hair in all seasons of the year 😅. I’ve seen the videos of you having your hair all out , do you experience shrinkage yourself when you step outside? It’s so nice to show the length and volume of the hair but it’s annoying when it shrinks ..
@z4CNatural

Thank you! That’s a great idea. Yes, I do experience shrinkage. My hair shrinks down more than 70 percent if I let it. I try to avoid shrunken styles and letting it shrink because I find that gives me single strand knots. I will make a video with my tips 💚

Working out; living in the desert and making love make washing my hair daily a necessity. I'm going to study my arse off to find a way to grow my 4b hair to mid back length w/o sacrificing cleanliness.

What do split ends look like though??? Do they make hair hard to comb…because my hair is uncombable heeeeelp
@z4CNatural
Жыл бұрын
When you look at your ends if you see one strand that splits into two or more branches that is a split end. Split ends do make your hair hard to comb. So does excessive dryness, too much protein, not being properly detangled. I would start by washing and deep conditioning your hair. Use a leave in conditioner and very gently finger detangle then use a wide tooth comb
