As you have the ear of Akai, please ask Akai to enable the sampler to auto-trigger from the end of the count-in or (if the sequence is already running) from the next start of the sequence when it loops. This would be an amazing help for my workflow where I play "stream of consciousness" into the sampler while the sequence loops. It would mean the raw sample is in sync with the sequence and that will simplify chopping. Thanks!

I was about to say: with 5 bucks you can buy old vinyl records that have sounds with that effect, sample them as they are and you have it. How many movements do you think you can make using the parameter automations of this plugin that really sound musical and tell a musical story? Use the sample LFO, vinyl crackle sample layered, some eq, distortion and saturation and you’ll get it. Have fun!

Just a heads up for those using the Tascam model 12 as a usb interface with their Mpc… the new update 2.11.6 didn’t fix the unwanted digital distortion/cracking noise issue introduced in 2.11.5. You have to downgrade to 2.11.4.

People don't realize the beauty in limitations. Dj Paul & Juicy J used this technique on a lot of their productions because they used a lot of analog gear mpc,SP1200, W-30's, along with sampling so a lot of their old production sounded dirty. It's crazy how people wanted to do away with the imperfect sound for a cleaner sound, now we're paying for the imperfections. Keep your analog gear people! Thanks for the vid. Just want to comment on your frustration with the looper, which baffles me also. I have also found that I frequently have to adjust the start time on the loops after bringing them into a clip or program. Would love it if Akai could look at some improvents to the looper. Specifically an undo, and the ability to run multiple loopers either as inserts on tracks or as layers within looper. There seems no reason why the mpc couldn't go head to head with the boss live loopers with a bit of an upgrade here.

I am buying this plug-in, along with the new Moog emulator. They sound good to me and the price is in the reasonable range for what they are. Making them into VST and AU formats would be fantastic. For a DAW like Bitwig or Cubase, I would probably be more likely to use the OPX-4 and Flavor Pro plugins than the Moog emulator. One benefit I realized from your video is that for the MPC-One, which I don’t own (Force and Live II here), the price point puts it in the range of some programmable desktop and floor pedal effects boxes. For some of those, the developer sells “algorithms” to put into the box. Given the suIte of effects available in Flavor Pro, it is quite comparable.

Had a difficult time hearing the lo-fi effects over bell type synth sound. Piano or female vocals might have been easier to hear. I'd be interested in the plug-in if it's automatable, but not with a submix as that's just 'one more thing'. Since other plugins have automation/recording for parameter changes I'd love to confirm if this has such capability, but it sounds like it doesn't. Nothing new here for folks that have been creating for a while. Nothing here that can't be duplicated with the old free version of iZotope Vinyl and an instance of the Decimator plugin. Not in itself worth the price, unless you take into account the limitations of insert effects with MPCs, and the convenience that this offers in not having to bake the effect into the track to free up effects slots down the line. Not knocking it really... It sounds decent, and is convenient. Just has been done so many times before. Great vid though 👍🏾

@@koalemos1679 but if you can change the program parameters per sequence then they would not all change when you make a change in a different sequence, so if you change the level of a drum for instance in a sequence (i.e. preset change) then it would not lower it in other sequences on that track.. so you would have huge jumps in tracks and couldn't keep track of why everything keeps changing.. it is hard to explain, but there is a reason it is like it is.

@@wurlinnawurl That's a very easy problem to solve. You go through the patterns and mix them appropriately. I do it with my Electribe already and it's very easy. And since the issue you're talking about already exists, nothing would change as far as your workflow goes. Preset per pattern is pretty standard on a lot of gear and for a piece that's supposed to be "Pro" it kinda boggles my mind to have to manually switch presets.

Of all of the newer paid plugins, this is the first one that really sold me for standalone use. There's a lot of overlap with some of the others and the hardware that I have, so I've held off. I think if they can keep putting out high quality stuff like this, though, we'll see a shift in how everyone feels about having to pay for it. I'd much rather pay for extras that they put a lot of work into than get free stuff that sounds meh. Just my two cents!

Flavor Pro? It would be better if Akai sold working hardware. „When im using two controllers, each assigned to its own midi channel track notes cancel each other when identical pitches are played at the same time.“ This is not a BUG, this is cheating. The MPC is sold as a multi-timbral instrument, but does not support this basic function. You cannot control the MPC with a KeystepPro, BeatstepPro, Logic or multiple keyboards via MIDI because each pitch can only sound on one MIDI channel at a time. It's unbelievable that Akai could even sell a single one of these devices. I don't know of any multimbral instrument in the world that can't be played with external hardware sequencers - Logic or different keyboards - because notes of the same pitch that arrive at the same time cancel each other out on different midi channels. Flavor Pro! It is to cry for. Unfortunately, I only noticed the error too late. How long has the bug been known? Please don't think about it.

Not really. We’ve got the Air Flavor from the latest update. People want the Lo-Fi effect? Ok: play your favourite instrument, record, bounce to sample and add a layer of vinyl crack, tweak the lfo that’s already on the same sample, adjust parameters to taste, place eq and saturation and all that great stuff. Bounce again to sample… I mean the pluing is amazing and it’s tempting to have everything in one box (you can probably use automation to adjust the parameters with the plugin, that’s something you can’t do if you bounce the sample with the effects but that depends on producers’ decisions…) I don’t know but I won’t get this plugin 😊
