0:06 Dorcas (Julie Newmar) really resembles Princess Aurora, but brunette. Eye shape, eyebrows, cheekbones, face shape, nose, lips, everything. Even her height, because I have the impression Aurora is one of the tallest Disney Princesses.

I remember seeing this movie when I was about 13 or 14. At first I thought it was really boring. Then I saw it again in my early 20's and thought it was really good!!!

When my sister was at high-school, (20 years ago) this movie was played on television. The next day all the girls were giggling and asking each other who they each thought was the most georgos guy. The boys were going crazy, trying to find out what this movie was, and how they could get to see it to size up the competition. Who would have thought, those guys would feel so threatened by guys who would have all been grandfathers by then.

The movie that out done the musical, that was suppose to be in 1954, Brigadoon. Given all the attention, and money, some that was taken from the budget of SBFSB, Brigadoon was actually declared a loss. SBFSB was considered by the studio to be more or less a B movie. After all it was only an original cinema production, while Brigadoom had come from Broadway. Originally entitled 'Sobbin Women' the studio though nobody want's to see a movie about women crying, the called it 'A Bride for Seven Brothers,' which was considered too risky, and eventually 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.' Made at a cost of just over 2 and a half million dollars the movie brought in over 9 and a half million dollars. Brigadoon cost over 3 million dollars, and brought in 2 and a quarter million dollars. The public flocked to see SBFSB and those involved in the production were delighted. Now consided a classic and one of the best musicals ever made!

My family and friends have always made fun of me for wanting to name my child Dorcas. My wife said no, and settle on a different name. But I was serious. Julie Newmar was the reason I wanted that name. This is one of my favorite movies of all time.

What I think is so funny is how modern actresses act like being in a corset is like stunt work where as these ladies enjoyed their time in them.

I'm a world renowned therapist. Dr. Cpoopsy. Look it up. It is my humble and expert opinion that this movie set full of airplane hangers was chock full of personality disorders. Except for Michael Kidd. Bless his beautiful hide.
