If you have average intelligence or better it is simply mind-boggling when you start thinking in-depth about all of the problems this EV B.S. is going to cause. The current U.S. government in all of it's wisdom, is going to REQUIRE that every U.S. automobile manufacturer has 50/50 ICE to EV within 8 years. Nevermind that our electrical grid can not possibly be upgraded enough in that span of time to handle the additional load. That's just the easiest one, there are literally THOUSANDS of reasons why this is going to end in catastrophe if we allow this to be forced on us, as we are going to ultimately pay the price in the end!

The Hornet is a small part of an unorganized Dodge situation. While Ford has been selling the Mustang Mach E, F150 Lightning, the EV Transit van and the hybrid Maverick with a PHEV coming for 2023 with other future EVs in the works. This is why they are continuing the new Gen 4 Coyote in the new S650 Mustang plus a recent patent on their new 7.3 litter Megazilla V8 that may find it's way in a future GT500. Stellantis has zero actual production Dodge EVs with the Hornet expected to balance Cafe numbers. A hugh hill to climb. If you research carbon certificates. You'll find in the past that FCA, then Stellantis purchased millions of dollars of Tesla's carbon certificates to continue building the Hemi vehicles while adding a Gas Gussler tax to those vehicles MSRP. Actually Tesla made more money selling their certificates to Stellantis and GM than from the sales of their vehicles. Stellantis has it's focus on Europe where they announced 100% EVs by 2030. I guess we'll see what the future of Dodge and Chrysler will be by the end of this year. You own an amazing Mustang which unfortunately seems to be pushed in the background. I hope that changes with future videos.

If your house or faucet has a filtration system, fill up jugs for drinking, don't open the fridge/freezer if you lose power to make it last longer. BUT regardless, evacuate if you live in those areas that require you to, you'll be fine.. go south from where the storm is "Planned to go", they generally make right turns. For Erma back in 2016; people who fled Miami (because that's where it was forecasted to go) fled to Jacksonville, it missed the east coast, (Miami) went up through Naples (west coast) and ended up going through Jacksonville on its way out to the Atlantic . Most newer houses of the last say decade are bomb shelters, nuke shelters if you have steel shutters. Stay safe. Gotta be careful on the internet when you say Muscle Car segment lol Dodge Omni, K car and the "Charger" were the things that pulled Dodge through the 80s in terms of "economy performance" sadly all they see is dodge selling out going Ev and a Hornet. I completely understand the need for the hornet, but I just don't see how they're going to sell enough of them to make a difference. Nobody is looking at dodge for vehicles like the hornet, when the market is already saturated with offerings from larger brands. I know they have to do something, but I think they would have better luck selling something to the tuner crowd - i.e. a highly customizable SRT 4 that competes with WRX's and the like. The target audience is smaller than the small SUV market, but it's a huge stretch to expect to have any success against the Rav4's, CRV's, etc...

Ah yes the old CAFE standards. This is precisely what I have been trying to convey to my fellow enthusiasts. In fact, I remember when I first learned about CAFE back in the late 90s/early 00s. This was when the Ford Excursion was a big seller. Remember those behemoths? IIRC, at that time Ford had to sell at ~3000 Focuses (yes that is the proper spelling) to cover the atrocious fuel economy of _one_ Excursion. Especially the 6.8L V10 which happened to be the most popular motor despite the diesel offerings. This was the subsequent demise of the Ford Excursion. But alas, it was only a matter of time before CAFE restrictions would rear its ugly head once more. While it does offer a modicum of hope in the distant future. I wouldn't hold my breath. Enjoy it while it lasts ladies and gentlemen. Stay classy my friends.

We have to remember--the largest part of the car buying market isn't the enthusiast but Joe and Jane Carbuyer, who wants a decent car to get around in. Ford may have sold close to 10K Mustangs, but their Escapes, Explorers, Mavericks, F-150's (including Lightning), and the Plug-in Hybrid Electric variants are what's popping in the money so that you can have the S650 Mustang. This is the same thing Dodge realizes it must do--it cannot survive on muscle cars alone. Maybe we'll see the return of V8 power in the future, maybe just one model (a Barracuda?), with fun variants. Of course, electrification means that the government is gonna HAVE to subsidize the build out of the 'Grid' as well as deploying fast chargers around the nation, especially in remote and rural areas.

Just dropped the 570th like! 10 Quarts in the 5.0?!?!? Wow! I agree, the marketing for the Hornet was definitely off. I saw past the marketing, though. I knew it wasn't muscle. It is however an important vehicle nonetheless. I did say the Hornet is paving the way for the better things to come. I was met with laughs from some, and support from others. The MPGe credits does make sense to allow for some things to be developed for people like us, so Dodge can give us what we want! Don't mock the Hornet! It's a key vehicle for Dodge and the future!! Accept the Hornet for what it is! BTW, The GLH is the one to get IMO! Great video, Racer X! Thanks for the clarifications! Let's keep an open mind, guys n' gals! Let's see what the future holds!

Pricing of the Hornet looks to be on the upper end of the segment, due to the fact it is a rebadged Alfa Stelvio. Dodge tried this with the Dart, and it killed sales

Doesn’t the Stellantis brand have the cafe standards, not dodge?

Why can't they convert the Dart and Durango into EV's, add the Hornet, and keep the Challenger and Charger?

The week we moved to St. Louis, was the week the "100 Year Flood" arrived. We were flooded out of our first apartment and having come from Northern Wisconsin - whoda' thunk our car would need air conditioning, right? ;) Get that shit outta' the way and move on in your new city. The best to your fam and BE SAFE!

I’m having a hard time with this across the board. It does matter to the deep pocket individuals as to how many hornets are sold. To the average car guy or car enthusiast, that isn’t going to drop six figures on a car, will not be interested in this scenario, because any vendor that comes out with a halo car, due to credits, will not be able to afford the halo car. Thus the entire venture is only for those with deep pockets. Why should I participate again?

I've been saying this since they announced the hemi was getting the axe - it's not really their choice, they would love to keep selling 800 horsepower badass machines, but uncle Sam wants better average MPG. Same goes for the Hornet - it's not aimed at your Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak buyer, but at the new Dodge initiates.

Method to the madness. Very good. The Hornet may very well be a good replacement for my wife's Journey. She loves the Journey so much that she's mad at Dodge for not making them anymore. Perhaps I can convince her to get a Hornet when the time comes.

This reminds me a lot about the safety conscious politician in the eighties ,they passed the seatbelt interlock law which prevented you from starting the car when the seatbelt was not plugged in. The most unpopular law ever overturned shortly later, but they did not give up. The politicians and bureaucrats have been pushing more and more to this day. The seatbelt buzzers , the automatic belts, seatbelt laws, and airbags are examples. The laws were even fought in the Supreme Court. I would be surprised if they reintroduced the interlock law again. We need to keep fighting for our IC engine vehicles because the Green New deal politicians and the EV fanboys are pushing hard to end them. California for example. The EV are the seatbelt people and they are never giving up.

I love my old low miles 06 Charger RT, but I hate feeding it. On the west coast gas prices have spiked back up to over 5 bucks per gallon. I actually would love a nice little peppy coupe that gets decent mpg again like the 95 Neon highline coupe I used to have. I hope they finally make another small 2 door option like they used to offer again. If selling a lot of these makes em money, people like them, and they have zippy sporty options it will be a win for everyone and some of the stupid power cars will still be able to be made and sold for the gear heads. I don't have a problem with hybrid or all electric as long as they have some go fast options that maybe get better than 12mpg on a good day in town.

Good luck with the storm. Hopefully you have a generator. No electricity & no AC for a week in FL heat & humidity quickly turns this state into its own little version of hell!

Hopefully they don't limit the ceiling for credits, and/or put an expiration date on them, or change the gas guzzler tax to 20 mpg average.
