It is the 2 corn dog size... the Sport is 4 corn dog sized cooker... I have 4 Go's ... a package of 4 fancy sausages fills two Go's... I can start with two frozen sausages each in the morning, they stay frozen until ready to cook... in half hour to an hour I get hot sausages... and the second Go will keep the sausages hot until ready to eat in a few hours.... went to movie, fixed my hot sausages, by sitting Go on top of my old truck ... wrapped them in a soft taco... squirted on my premixed catsup and mustard.... wrapped and ate 2 before movie and 2 after movie... just as hot as before the movie. Fast food ... it is like a thermos bottle. And they sell replacement tubes.

something tells me this thing is considerably more delicate while it's still heated up like it was. Maybe after using it, storing it a while without the tray in it (so it's open at the tube), but in the shade even upside down, a while before packing it up would help it cool down and be a bit more shock proof during camping and such.

Guess it just depends on how much Sun you have and the surrounding ambient temp
@dougstephens59
Жыл бұрын
@@scottkrebs1761 The ambient temp is a minor concern. It's all about the UV rays. The UV rays penitrate the glass and because the tube is double walled and has that interior coating, they bounce around inside and heat up quickly. There can be snow on the ground with air temp below 40⁰F and it will still perform. I've cook at the beach under over cast skies. It took a little longer, but still worked. It's an enjoyable laid back activity. If you're looking for fast food, go to McDonald's. One tip: I always use a thermometer to make sure any meat I cook is safe to eat. Another tip: The time to cook is between 10:00am and 2:00pm and allow yourself plenty of cushion before sunset, especially on a cloudy day. Experiment and enjoy!

I mean mixing it with cold foods and bread would work nicely. Imagine putting two hot-dogs there every half an hour or so, when on beach. It will at least suffice for a hot midday snack. You get two of those and cook twice and you could have a proper dinner in an hour. Would it be unnecessarily expensive? Probably. But it is still a piece of hot chicken or other meat without any coal or real fire.

Take a stainless steel pot that is big enough for you or your family and paint it with chimney black, then surround it with mylar held in place with two or three stakes and paracord. Use monkey fist knots on the mylar. Use stakes that you make on site for minimal weight. Longer, thinner pots or a pan would be better. A little duct tape can fix rips in the mylar, everything else is bombproof. Set the pot on rocks to get heat underneath. Set the mylar on leaf litter or pine needles to insulate from the ground. With a average survival blanket you should get enough reflected energy to cook a really big meal.

I mean its cool that's for sure but as a big man, a husband and a father with a family of 4 it would take forever to make a meal cooking a burrito worth of meat and veg every 30 minutes. Something like a rocket stove seems more appropriate for a family especially since it still works when it's raining, snowing or cloudy I'm the fall winter and spring and is damn near bulletproof and fuel is still free if you use sticks wood. If you are dead set on solar look into the large Copenhagen Solar Cooker it will heat a pot and can cook anything from a small meal up to a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions for a large group. The bigger the meal the longer it takes so plan for that.
