I think the dreadnought is a more fuller sound but the grand auditorium is a warmer feel
@pickin4you

This always confuses me when people say this. To me, the deeper tones are WARMER, and the miss and highs are brighter. I don’t get how a GA with louder miss and highs sound warmer. Just a mystery to me, and maybe this speaking it are saying what they have heard others say. Let’s take two singers, a tenor and a baritone. Which one would you say would have the warmer sounding voice? To me, it would be the deeper baritone. Just giving you all something to think about. You may have it right in your head, but are calling it by the wrong name.

Dreadnaught is too big for my everyday guitar, but it's nice to have one for moments when you just want to strum away all your stress! The boominess of dreadnaught just can't be replaced (except for jumbo?)!

Can't agree more with you. Dreadnought has fuller tone especially obvious during strumming. However for flatpicking and fingerpicking, the difference is not so obvious and I prefer the refined sound of cutaway. I recently just bought a slim guitar about 6.5mm body thickness. I'm quite dissapointed as the sound is so tiny even more tiny than my 3/4 size guitar. Luckily it is semi acoustic, so I can still plug in to amp. So yeah, size does matter. Last but not least, I must say you are by far the best channel in doing acoustic guitar comparison because the tone you choose to play is subtle yet still seem skillful thus I can appreciate the tone better. Some channels, they seem to play super fast and agressive as if showing how expert they are, until the tone & tone diff can't really be appreciated. Acoustic guitar is supposed to be played beautifully not harsh and aggresive. Anyway, good job dave! Keep up the good works. 👏🏻

I was just thinking that I always prefer the ones with cutaways(?) since back then because I like the access to the lead and then you mentioned it. I'm always gonna be more comfortable using a cutaway. The wholeness of sound with the dreadnought is so noticeable though. Hope you do a throwback guitar chords/how to play of Marry Me by Train. The trebles on the dreadnought don't ring out, it is a very bassy guitar. Prefer the Sage with it's more even volume with good bass and clearer trebles. All this may not be related to the shape but the actual construction of bracing and sound board tuning.

Yeah... I prefer a cutaway, but I already have a Fender acoustic with a cutaway. So...... I OBVIOUSLY need a real sounding wood type tone for my finger picking etc...... Thanks P.S. I already have the Hudson in my cart :)

I went from dread to OM, exactly for the he reason you mentioned...my shoulder at 50yo does not enjoy the depth. I have been able to get a bit more depth of sound with a bit of body modelling in the Katana, and soon zoom pedal. I do prefer the OM soundwise for finger picking.

The Sage had a brighter, more distinct sound. It seemed to separate the tones better. I like the sound of the Hudson when using the built in electronics. The Hudson sounded more "natural" in electronics mode, there was less of that "ticky" sound of the pick as compared to the Sage.

I am a dreadnaught guy. That being said, I liked them both. Flat picking goes to the dread. Finger picking goes to the GA. When plugged in, it was not enough of a difference to tell. I could hear it, but I am saying it was such a slight difference through the pick up that if I need one that way, I could go with either one. Now all that being said, I am a bluegrass player, and nobody treat reviews these plays hard enough for me to really hear how it would sound in a bluegrass group, but I do prefer the louder lower end of the dreadnaught. I love the looks of the other , but it’s not loud enough for me. I don’t play even half way up the neck, but still love the look of a cutaway grand auditorium. Great review.

@GuitarZero2Hero

I'll have to contact CC to see if I can borrow a guitar to review. My Fat lady is a different wood than my angels and therefore the comparison would not be equal. I think in general though if you do more strumming and size of the guitar is not an issue for comfort, go for fat lady. But if you value comfort and fingerpicking more, angel would probably be better.
