Women tend to drop their hips and curve the back of the spine. It helps with the B asset in the back, makes it look curvier and lengthens the hip flexor/ overall look of the leg. Proper posture is actually to tuck the tailbone forward and allow for the hips to sit naturally even. To do this however you need to engage your abdominal muscles and pelvic floor. My physiotherapist sees this in a lot of women. She also mentioned it can lead to lower back problems, sore hips, and a weak abdominal/core. The recommendation is to do deep core exercises that work aligning the hips, pelvic floor exercises, work on staying conscious about posture.

An anterior tilt is usually because your hip flexors are shortened and a weaker side of the abdominal muscle, which actually wraps around to your back. We are bacon wrapped in muscle to keep stuff where it needs to be. So strengthening the weaker side and stretches should help correct this and it should also a lot of eliminate lower back pain that can happen. A physical therapist can help teach you but also, if you tell a trainer who has their degree in health and wellness, they will also know how to correct it.

Some people suffer from anterior pelvic tilt. It’s caused when the top of the hips are rotated forward. It’s usually caused by sitting down for too long too often. Eventually the low back and hip flexors get tight and the abs, glutes, and hamstrings get stretched. If it’s not extremely severe someone can stretch their hip flexors enough to restore regular posture which coincidentally is exactly what the people in this video are doing. If someone actually has anterior pelvic tilt they won’t be able to maintain this posture without sustained effort which could be painful over time. Instead it’s best to do corrective exercises that stretch the low back and hip flexors, and tighten the abs, hamstrings, and glutes. Hope this helps explain what’s really going on here.

@@summmerlyyou have super tight hip flexors i bet. probably from too much sitting. look up the couch stretch

Sitting a lot, like at a desk, causes the hip flexors to tighten and wekaen and this causes anterior pelvic tilt as well. If you sit a lot, there are methods to relax and strengthen the flexirs and a side effect will be better posture.

If you're watching this, she's a model she obviously doesn't eat well. So please don't compare yourself to her body❤

She does eat well, but she does work out and stay healthy too. You can eat food and still have this body type. If you don’t look like this though, still remember that your body is beautiful❤️

Am I the only one who does not get this....like, at all?! I get that she is tiny and it's hard to imagine her waist smaller. I see a difference between the two poses, but it just looks like she is kinda like sucking in on the 2nd? I am not smart enough to actually see how the "pose" is different. Please help. Tia!

Yeeeah I don't see such a big difference from the front too. But like from the side, it's better. Maybe the posture here is extraordinated in both ways but all in all I would consider the hips back as better anyway

By shifting the hips forward you get an automatic “suck in” from the waist. It’s part of ballet dancers technique to appear taller and more graceful. It helps with balance while standing, walking, dancing etc. She likely wasn’t sucking it in deliberately. It’s just part of the posture. Like how throwing your shoulders back help with pushing out your chest. Hope this helps! 👋🏻

if you've ever taken a ballet class your teacher might have told you (or someone in you class) to not stick your butt out, this is basically that. don't stick you butt out!

It's not just for looks, it's how your hips are supposed to naturally align.

wait, people don't intuitively know this by obsessively posing in the mirror daily to see which pose makes them look skinnier???

Not about body type. Approximate alignment of the ribs and pelvis. It’s how the body is designed and how abdominals function optimally.
