Nearly all of the harmonies, especially the high stuff, on all Dokken recordings - was Jeff singing. Listen to the original demo of “Dream Warriors” here on KZitem where he sings lead and dubs in the harmonies, and you’ll be able to hear his contribution to the final recording. The high melody voice in the chorus for “In My Dreams” is him. Don is doing falsetto in that harmony. The body of the sound in that song’s chorus is coming from Jeff’s voice, with Don and Mick harmonizing over him.

Just remember guys, without Don, some of those Iconic Dokken songs we love might never have been written, or maybe they wouldn't be the songs we remember now. Ya know, shit happens. I'm sure Don wishes he could still hit those notes he used to, so go easy on him. I drove from Dallas to Sioux Falls, South Dakota a few years ago just to see these guys, Dokken, the original lineup. It was a warm up show for the 6 show tour they did in Japan. I had a great day and a lot of fun at that show. It was rough, for sure and Don's voice was suffering, but everybody in the audience sang every word to every song and marveled at Lynch and Pilson, even when he had to start Paris is Burning 3 times, and it was AWESOME!!! I'm sure some don't see it that way, because it wasn't all polished and perfect, but I do. It was more like we were all just hanging out with our favorite band from the eighties. I was 10 or 12 feet from George Lynch playing all those old tunes! Great day!

To be fair, they didn't always suck live. I saw them a lot, and in some of their shows, the sound was off. Monsters of Rock ('88) was one- Don's mic was either literally turned off, or turned down to inaudible, and he had a fit. It happened again at a small club. But, at least three times, they were awesome live (in the 80s, and once in '95), including Don (who has never been one of my favorite people). The rest of the band is consistently tight. Jeff should be the singer. Don's ego doesn't play well with someone like George, whose talent is scary/epic. Too bad, because I think he can write hit music.

One of those bands where the backing vocalist blows away the main vocalist. Jeff Pilson is awesome.

Jeff is a really cool guy and very talented. I used to talk to him via email at the Dokken site a fee years ago. Never showed any ROCK start ego and as a matter of fact he down to earth all the time. Good song, good band (that version) and George Lynch still one of the best guitarist out there.

Ive interviewed Jeff. Besides being an amazing talent, he's an incredibly affable and likable guy! He even called me back the next day to see if I needed more info for my piece! If 17 year old me back in the 80's could have seen the future to me looking at my cell phone showing "Jeff Pilson Calling" I wouldn't have believed it.

Have you heard Don recently? His voice is shot to hell. If Dokken ever re-forms with the original lineup they need to let Pilson sing and Don play bass.

Man, I've been a Dokken fan from the start, and I knew Jeff was a.talent. But this is amazing. What a voice! They should have booted Don for Jeff from the beginning. New name: Pilson.

He’s a great stand in on songs Don can’t do anymore. Him and Don were the dream team vocally back in the 80’s. Sad Don abused alcohol and smoked too much and ruined what was one of rock’s greatest voices.

I love this DVD. One of the most talented greatest bands ever. Each one a great in their own right..and while I agree Jeff's singing is good and his harmonies contributed so much, dons leads made Dokkens sound set apart. Not only that, but his ideas and production of their records also sets them apart because it is rare to find a Dokken album where you have to skip so many songs...easy to play it beginning to end and like them all...he does have vision and sticks to it. He should always be proud of his Dokken bands...he can scout out that talent and blend it well.

Beautiful voice! But the best bands have more than one singer. That is why background vocals sounded so good in the band. But seriously...Jeff needs to front his own band now
