@@joesmith-je3tq oh it's beautiful. the bird is upside down, eating some berries from a holly branch which is on what looks like a piece of cypress driftwood. I am in Indiana, and I read where he moved to the southern part of Indiana. on the bottom is carved Carver Don Pacey Painting & Habitat by Sue Kraft. Do you happen to know the value?

@@kathyann7027 That is really odd. I met Sue Kraft and remember Don saying she had taken lessons with him. I don't remember them doing any sort of collaboration. I have no idea on the value. I am not sure if there are collectors out there looking for his work. If the peace was made for competition, it may have more value. If the leaves were made of copper, its an earlier work. You may want to find an appraiser. You may also find some of his work that was auctioned off to get a feel on price.

Very nice work by your friend and yourself on the carving. I'm very good at furniture building but the art of carving or drawing is not in me. Musically I can show my artistic side. Off topic of this video, I just wanted tell you I just ordered a Brymen BM525, same as the BM829 but with a built in data logger like the Fluke 189 has. Not quite as accurate as the BM869s specs but does measure capacitance out to 25mf and has all the features of the 869 with dual temperature capabilities. I like the logging feature of the 189 and wanted another. I realize I could get the adapter to run the 869s with the computer but like the portability having it onboard. Maybe a review and test down the road on this model??

If I were younger I might give it a shot, but electronics and leatherworking causes me enough pain. Plus my nerves aren't what they used to be. I love learning new things also but I just have to realize my limitations. I started learning watchmaking and it just causes me too much pain.

I entered the cardinal and jay into competition. The jay was a big improvement. I took more time with it and had some idea how to carve by that time. Don said the jay would never win. Why? Because people don't like jays. He was right. Peoples perceptions of the birds played into the judging. If you are carving for competition, you better consider that that what you carve may be as important as the quality of work.
