Most new short term rental hosts are eager to make sure they’re doing everything right. But since most of us don’t have direct previous experience in hospitality, even if we have good intentions we can make some serious hosting blunders.
It can be tricky to know where to draw the line between being hospitable and being invasive, between being smart property owners and being obsessive over house rules, or between being discerning and being paranoid.
We’re not trying to put ourselves on a pedestal and say that we have never been one of these types of hosts we’re going to talk about today. In fact when we have super stressful days, we both have a tendency to start falling into one of these categories. And if you stick through to the end we’ll tell you what that fatal flaw category is for each of us, and how we try to pull ourselves out of the rut, or pull each other out of the rut, when we catch ourselves spiraling into that negative headspace.
