Chances are if you have to do this the rubber has already been compromised Get Silicone wipers piaa wipers are made from silicone and last 2-3 years and have the best wipe. They also deposit a thin layer of silicone on your windshield making water roll off as if you had applied Rainx treatment.

John Cooper I bought some about 4 months ago. They work great but they wear just a bit slower than regular rubber blades and don’t conform to my windshield right and the whole passenger side wiper leaves massive streaks. I went back to OEM supplies blades and I’m gonna use the PIAA super silicone blades as backup.

The reason i replace wipers is often because the rubber has separated from the wiper itself, or because the wiper has aged in the sun and become misshapen. Very rarely is it because of the edge of the rubber deteriorating

hold the wiper blade so it is straighter when you cut it - it was clearly binding when you got to the most curved portion and created a wavy cut surface there. these devices do work well when used properly. Whether the rubber is still any good from ozone and salt damage is a different matter.

Because you buy the wiper it wears, cut once, it wears, cut twice, it wears; replace the wiper and repeat. That's 2 wipers for the price of 6. Assuming it will cut 10 times before going blunt (for both cut one and cut two) that's 15 wipers for the price of 5 or 15 for the price of 6 if you account for the cost of the tool.
