Stumbled on this video of DB II and so glad I did. He has been around for a while but has grown on me leaps and bounds. Unbelievable how much he resembles his dad. Read a great bio on DB II and how he grew up and in the music world. Hope to see him soon in concert. Wish I could have sat in on this as well.

Saw him with Clapton. He's wonderful at what he does. I've only seen Jimi use the strung backwards style.
@YtheMathGuy

Wooderson jimi actually didn’t use backwards stringing style he played righty guitars just made to play lefty but strung the guitar the traditional way:

Jimi Hendrix was left handed but the guitar was strung normally, not upside down. Check any video of Jimi

Wooderson, Jimi played a righty guitar strung for lefty. He could play upside down, but 99% of the time it was strung for left-handed playing. Doyle plays his guitars strung for right-handed playing but he plays lefty, hence upside down. The late great Albert King also played this way. Strangely enuff, Doyle is actually right-handed... he just plays lefty. I know this bcuz Doyle himself told me so personally.

I don't get why not just switch the strings? I guess he would have to relearn so not worth it?
@screenpuller
9 жыл бұрын
When Doyle began playing, he began playing lefty because it just seemed "correct" to him. He told me it was akin to a right-handed batter holding the bat with right hand over left... it felt natural to have his right hand on the neck & left over the body, as one would hold a bat. Also, growing up, he was surrounded by guitars but they were all strung for right-handed playing. So, lefty playing, heavy string on the bottom.
@drumavidcheckupz4792

screenpuller So if he was surrounded by guitars he must have known that left handed strung guitars existed. I guess then implicitly he didn't care?
@screenpuller

It was simply a matter of convenience, why go out & get another guitar when you have them all around already.
