He’s becoming underrated with people putting him at QB4 rn

1.) Maye’s arm is not even close to Josh Allen’s. Just because it looks easy does not mean that Maye could secretly throw it harder. The fact is that he doesn’t show the same ungodly zip as the tip top throwers do. Also, Maye has a windup release, this lets him throw it harder, but significantly extends the time it takes him to throw. 2.) I don’t think you understand what post-snap processing is. Scrambling around and throwing at the sideline is what quarterbacks who can’t read coverage do. Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes were notorious for doing this early in their careers. Obviously Mahomes got away with this, but he admitted he couldn’t read basic coverages early on. The lesson here is that sideline throws do not require you to read the defense at all. This is why Zach Wilson looks competent when throwing at the sideline. Conversely, throwing over the middle, where multiple levels of defenders could interfere with the pass requires an understanding of the entire coverage, rather than just the leverage that one defender has vis a vi a receiver and the sideline. Post snap processing ONLY occurs if a defense disguises its coverage, otherwise the quarterback would already have the answer pre snap. Consequently it is nonsensical for you to give Maye a higher post snap grade than pre snap. This suggests that there are times when Maye is lost pre snap, but he figures it out post snap. Maye might well run around and find an open man, but it it certainly not because he magically figured out the coverage after the play started when he didn’t know what it was initially. 3.) Maye’s presnap processing is horrendous. Watch his last college game. The man faces obvious three deep Tampa2 style coverage the entire game and is allergic to throwing his check down despite it being wide open. You can make the excuse that he is just trying to make a play because his team is bad, but his team was losing because he made terrible decisions and missed every throw on the first two drives of that game. There are times when it looks like Maye predetermines his throw regardless of the coverage. I would give him a D+ in processing. I wouldn’t hold it against a college player that their post snap processing is bad because that is something that NFL legends have struggled with at different points in their careers, but generally it improves with experience, unless they are a savant like Burrow immediately. 4.) Maye’s pocket awareness/movement in the pocket is the worst I have ever seen. I literally watched him drift to his left for no reason, as a DT was beating his guard. Somehow, this DT in his bright red jersey was invisible to Maye, despite being right in front of him, and Maye’s drifting gave the DT a free rush at him, whereas the proper step up in the pocket would have allowed his guard to regain leverage. There is no way to fix this problem. He drifts for no good reason. No coach ever taught him to drift randomly and ignore defenders. This is an inexplicable flaw that will never be corrected. I think he is just a dumb player that can’t read coverages but has a pretty good arm and size, but makes things incredibly difficult for himself. 5.) That he attempts difficult throws often, is because he can’t read defenses, and instead tries to force the ball down field. He misses open throws over the middle because he doesn’t know they are there. He ignores his check downs completely unless his coach lights him up on the sidelines, and only then forced the ball to the rb when he wasn’t actually open lmao. Anyways, I hope this helps clarify that scrambling around like a chicken with your head cutoff and throwing it at the sideline is not post-snap processing, anymore than shooting and making a shot over a double team in basketball is reading the defense.

Just a question, don’t actually want to argue that this isnt accurate. But “Adjusted completion percentage” measures on-target throws regardless of a drop. If Maye had 75.1% (26th) and Daniels has 79.6% (6th), then why is Maye graded in your system as a much more accurate thrower? Is PFFs measure of on-target balls missing a certain factor?

The question is will they trade the top pick to DC, and hope they take Caleb, and get some extra draft picks before Drake Maye. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Caleb drops to 3 or 4 in the draft ? A lot can happen in 2 months. I think the Bears need to hang onto Justin until the draft. May seem risky, but they could get a heck of a trade for him during the draft for all the changing dynamics between all the QBs that could go top 10, and teams not getting what they want bc competing teams making last minute decisions due to how close some are being ranked.

The only arguable nfl talent maye had with him was Tez Walker who missed the 1st 4 games because NCAA or something. Walker looked God awful at the senior bowl so I think he’ll be a mid round pick at best. So he wouldn’t really go thru progressions. Can he? I’m sure he can to some degree at worst but really don’t know. Maye will go through all of his progressions. Maye has unreal accuracy, especially considering he rarely is afforded the time to really set his feet. If his feet get set it’s a wrap. There’s a reason Kannell said he was best prospect he’s seen period in the last 20-30 years. Toughest situation 1 of these QBs could’ve been drafted into was NE. And Maye is 1000% the best option to go into that situation with worst Line, worst WR’s probably worst RBs I don’t even know NE has now after Elliott left. @@pbfg I don't have too. Drake Maye is proving it for me. Throughout Pats training camp he has proven to be extremely raw. Joe Milton is better than him right now.

@@pbfg These are the reports coming from practice. Drake Maye is raw. Instead of asking me questions maybe you should be questioning your ability to evaluate QBs.

Ok 23:00 I know a liar and a shill when I see one, showing a bunch of passes that weren’t just dropped but overthrown and behind or too high or in the dirt is not just a dropped pass stop it

I know a liar when I see one because they comment that balls were overthrown when they clearly hit the receiver's chest. Do you think people simply won't click your timestamp and realize you're wrong?

My problem with your approach is that it is pick and choosed to fit what you want to say lol. If you want to be thorough, take the UVA game and let’s do play by play and walk us through you analysis. I cant have the I would show but it is too long - lots of analysts have fair and tape based criticisms of Drake Maye’s accuracy, mechanics and pocket movement. Showing the good isnt enough, go to where they criticize and break why you think that pass was accurate. You have a good eye, I just dont think you approach is robust. You make it look like its robust with your grading system, but that does not mean shit if you cant show us evaluate the tape. For ex, Daniels has LOTS of examples where he does multi-read progressions, which is why analysts love him. You decided to only highlight the snaps where he didnt show that processing, which is your right but isnt good eval. I think if you want to grow in that role you gotta be more interactive just like QB School. You was right and he was wrong on Fields, but at least we saw him work, that’s your next step. Right now it feels like you know what you want to say and hand pick the clips that fit directly with you narrative. Sometimes you even stretch it (said theses are drops but ball location was horrendous). More transparency and honesty and you’ll be a star

... you mean exactly what I did here? kzitem.info/news/bejne/q4duvHt7rnSbgWk Further. I posted 30 mins of all 22. Every single deep attempt I saw. There is absolutely no cherry picking here. I defy you to find anyone who is even half as thorough as I am.

Commander fan, I hear and see more flaws in maye game from NFL analysts and ex quarterbacks, but you're trying to convince me he's the better qb??? STOP!!!!!! MAYE THROWS MORE INT THAN DANIELS AND CALEB, most commanders fan want Daniels, 40 tds and 4 ints! DANIELS FOR THE 2ND PICK!! PLEASE EXPLAIN MAYE INCONSISTENCY!!
