start from simple objects like cube, ball, cylinder. then move to simple combinations, then to more complex shapes..

In this case a soft charcoal pencil is used, mainly because it looks good on the video. The pencils you describe are very good choice, you can also use colored pencils. The tools don't really matter much, with practice you can use all of them to get a good result.

I just began a course in basic drawing technique several weeks ago and, quite frankly, I have learned more watching your drawing than the class room so far. Your use of basic shapes to begin your drawing is perfection and I am grateful that you are sharing your amazing talent with the world. Have you ever done a still life with all white objects? That is my assignment for this week and it would be awesome to see you tackle this. Thank you again. Nice, nice job...............................

Of course, the pencil doesn't matter. Charcoal pencil is harder to draw with unless you are experienced, it looks good on the video because it has strong contrast and that's the main reason it is used here.

you know what your doing and that's a plus what puzzles me is what system of measurement are you using to render the still lifes??? i noticed you occasionally were calculating the proportions of both vases ????
@cattusOK
9 жыл бұрын
There is no system of measurement, what matters is the proportions between the objects, so that the size relations between them remains the same, so if say the cup is 3.5 times the height of the jug, and the width of the cup is say 3 times it's height etc - these relations should be the same on paper. In this video it is exaggerated for demonstration.
@artlab7814

@Avian98X it's not brown, all the pencils are black, the reason some videos look brown is because video was too dark and I enhanced the brightness but it made some videos look brown.

I have heard of people being tone deaf (singing). Is there such a thing for someone like me wanting to learn to draw but lack depth perception? Or, dyslexic somehow. I am trying but it just seems my attempts are coming out flat and lack enough dimension. I am just starting out so maybe expecting to much to fast? Not, giving up, but would love to know some practice drills that might help.
