Problem with performance cars is it's even harder to use the performance than superbikes. Overtaking is impossible, at least on a bike you can overtake when you get caught up, much harder in a car. Plus being so low down I think it's harder to see the road ahead compared to the bike. As a performance only comparison of course
@KingOfCoconuts

After living in Germany for about 6 months I have to say, most people don't drive super fast on derestricted parts of the road, most people cruise by at like 90-100 mph. Granted I like to max my bike every now and then on my home but realistically over the course of a week I probably never sit at over 90mph, Ill just merge and maybe accelerate like a mad man because its fun and then drop back and sit at 80. The reason why it would never work in the UK however, is because like you said, everyone's lane disciple is fucking awful.
@ikbendusan
6 жыл бұрын
everyone does that because going much faster than 160 km/h is a big penalty to fuel consumption
@Actionlutz
6 жыл бұрын
Dušan Pešić it is also pretty stressful to go really fast over a long period of time because you have to be hyper aware of everything. It is much more relaxed to go slower, fuel consumption is another plus.
@savejeff15
6 жыл бұрын
I'm from Germany and most people here drive between 70 and 90 mph and I do to most of the time. I also max my bike out then and there but overall I care to much about fuel consumption and may tires. I hate to travel to other countries by car because the constant speed limit on the motorways are so frustrating.
@wiktormichno6886
6 жыл бұрын
It would, the reason lanes dont work in UK is speed limit, if you can do max 70, trucks on the slowest lane are doing 60 so you have 3 lanes and its so easy for people to justify doing speed limit on fastest lane, "you are not allowed to go faster then im so i can bo on fast one".

Great video again guys, it’s testament to your personalities that it doesn’t matter whether it’s bike, car or gardening, it’s always entertaining. In terms of responding to this video specifically, I was always a car but. My brother was the bike guy, however I just got fed up of spending ludicrous amounts of money on maintenance. I went from my ridiculous run-about (a C63 AMG) to a lease Hyundai i10 for £150 a month and used some of the money to buy another few bikes. No brainer.
@cliveramsbotty6077
6 жыл бұрын
I wish I understood the leasing a car thing - is it more expensive in the long run? Do you end up paying the depreciation that comes from driving a new car off the dealers forecourt?
@Yama_Apri_521
6 жыл бұрын
clive ramsbotty I don’t understand it either. I’ve always bought cars outright as I like to feel I own something. I couldn’t see me leasing an expensive car, but a cheap one like mine is a bit of a no-brainer. I’ll see how it pans out as I’ve already done 20k miles in a year instead of the 10k I’m supposed to do. Not sure what happens there. I have a 6p/mile charge for excess mileage, but not sure if that’s the only penalty of whether there’s a further depreciation adjustment.
@cliveramsbotty6077
6 жыл бұрын
My brother in law does the three year leasing thing - he went over the mileage limit when he handed the car back to them and I think it pushed up the monthly payments on the next car but I'm not certain. I guess the leasing company are making a profit from the customer but as you said, you get a budget but brand new car for a few quid a month. More money for the bikes!

On that autobahn point, I'm an American that used to travel 4 hours every weekend on the autobahn on my 2015 ZX6R 636. I would cruise around 120-145 mph with no issues. I did the same trip for 2 years and never once had an issue with drivers not getting out of my way. I loved German roads. Absolutely loved them. Now that I'm back in the United States, I'm terrified of drivers on our roads. The whole world should switch to the autobahn system.

We also have "managed motorways" here in Germany, and a LOT of sections of the Autobahn are limited to 120 km/h or 100 km/h. But you're right,being able to go 250 km/h is stupid fun, especially on a bike

It can be 2am with no traffic or cones and these so called smart motorways will say it's 40 mph then 200 meters on it's 20 mph then another 200 meters and it's 40 mph then it's national speed limit without seeing another vehicle ! Happy Birthday! And regarding the Autobahn: I live in Germany (Ruhr district) and drive on the Autobahn almost every day. The deregulated Autobahn is awesome. I have been to Switzerland recently where they are only allowed to drive 120 km/h on their motorway, and it´s mindnumbingly boring. I seriously had to be careful not to fall asleep while constantly driving behind the same car doing exactly 120km/h. When I visit my girlfriend, who lives in another town, I can drive 200km/h and be at her place in 15 minutes, instead of driving for almost half an hour. And despite the speeds, the motorway is much safer than city or country roads. I guess it is because people are concentrated on driving instead of doing something else.

Smart motorways are brilliant! I was travelling up the M5/M6 recently and the signs told everyone lanes 3 and 4 were closing ahead (but not closed), so I drove past miles and miles of people sitting waiting in a queue and merged right at the front when the lanes actually closed. I know what you mean with the speed restrictions though, they do it if there are queues at junctions/slip roads or just to try and ease congestion but everybody ignores it if theres no cameras anyway. It seems the M4 at Newport is restricted to 50mph even when there is nobody else on the road in the early hours.

The closest I've been to this was as a passenger in a Nissan GTR, and that gave me the same impression - bike fast (at least as fast as a GSXR 750, which is what I had at the time.) Something like this, or any other big supercar, is going to be a match for most people who ride superbikes. The big advantage we have, as you say, is the ability to get past traffic, and on UK roads that's why a superbike will always be faster, and more fun, than a supercar when going for a "blast". Bikes can more consistently use their power on a road, compared to a supercar. However, as you say, you can jump into a supercar without wearing the gimp suit, and the lady with the short skirt, lovely long legs, blonde hair, and big chesticles is way more likely to want to go for a "ride" (unless she's into dressing up in gimp suits, and then the bike will win...or the bedroom; one of them will win) But yeah, supercars are shit hot.

Personal gripe I have with "Safety Cameras" is they are NOT safety cameras. Case in point, if you drive a car towing a caravan at 70mph through a camera location it won't do anything but the vehicle is travelling 20mph faster than it should be. If you do 80mph in car/bike it will nick you. The car/bike will be far safer at 80 than the caravan at 70.

Disagree on the smart motorway thing. It increases traffic capacity without having to widen or build new motorways. From that point of view its good value for money. The M3 and M4 have improved flow since becoming smart I reckon. What's bad about them is when the people in the central control room put up 'debris in road' for a small sliver of broken plastic on the hard shoulder ten miles away. I've not seen this so much on motorways in the south, it usually seems to happen on the 'smart' bits of the M1.

I've always been a car man but ridden bikes since I had a Billy Whizz as a 16 year old lol. Cars just have too many pluses over bikes and unless you have the money its hard to afford both or a car which is capable enough to compensate for the lack of a bike. Were getting there though, fast bikes are the same fast bikes but cars are getting faster and cheaper each couple of years, especially with the electric add on to conventional engines
