Don't think I missed that Drizzt Do'Urden reference at the beginning.

You forgot to mention the fact that you have to use a Panther Biodrone, or Rigger 5.0's Ares Cheetah if you want to dual wield.

Great video, to the point and very factual. Keep it up! Also deual. Edit: It's fixed now, now everyone is going to think I can't spell dual. :(

Problem with dual wielding pistols is, the way I understand it, you have to split your dice. So you mitigate the penalty with ambidextrous, but....14 pistols with a 7 accuracy? 7 and 7...

Its almost never a good idea right at character creation unless you are completely min maxed. But a runner who has been steadily honing his pistols skill as well as taking advantage of cyber, bio, or magic enhancements will soon be rolling dice pools in the 20's even pushing 30. Remember 1/3 of the dice pool is the average number of hits and if your average is equal to your accuracy then you gonna be wasting hits quite often. So you probs wanna start with called shot to get more efficient use out of the dice pool. But eventually, it becomes more efficient statistically to split the dice pool into 2 attacks to minimize the chances of scoring more hits than you have accuracy. Moral of the story is that dual wielding pistols is optimal for characters who are exceptionally badass at shooting pistols and usually enhanced either magically or via technology past mundane human limitations...which is kinda how it should be.

Also you missed a lot on duel ranged weapons, the bonus is you get a 2nd burst. Where as single weapon only gets the one burst per initiative pass. Otherwise your movies are great :)

If you're dual wielding, do you get extra attacks if you're aiming for a single target? Also, you used the example of having an SMG in one-hand and a Super Warhawk in the other. I thought SMG's needed both hands to be used at all.

There's no real mechanical benefit to dual wielding firearms in SR5. It merely gives you the flexibility to attack with two different weapons or to reload less often (by virtue of having twice the bullets). As far as using two hands for an SMG. There are technically no rules in SR that dictate how many hands you need to use different firearm types. Often it makes sense that you'd have to use two hands to fire some weapons, but it's ultimately up to you and your GM to figure that out.

@@ComplexAction That all makes since. Realistically, different pistols and SMG's would have different requirements because of weight distribution, size, etc. Whereas all rifles would need both hands because of how big they are and how they're shaped. Thank you for responding to so many of my questions.

@@ComplexAction If both pistols have recoil reduction, you can shoot longer before getting penalty from recoil.

Hey there, for some reason I cannot remember why I replaced my Ingram Smartgun X with a Steyr TMP in one Hand and in the other hand a stun baton. I thought I have read somewhere, that you cannot wield a Ingram Smartgun X (SMG) with one hand making dual wield with that SMG impossible, while its possible to wield an automatic gun and a stun baton. But to be honest I cannot tell if I am right, nor where I have read that. Anyone here who can help me with that dilemma please? Thanks alot.

Did you ever find if smg can be used with one hand?
