@NATIK001
Ай бұрын
@@crescentmoon256 It is explained in the books. The worm always tries to keep open scales on top to lessen sand coming in via them, so they steer by opening the scales wider on the side they want to go towards as it causes the worm to rotate that scale upwards and to twist towards that direction. They board worms and bring along people not capable of riding via their own strength by having the one who steer the worm guide it near people and then they climb the side of the worm as it passes by, and use ropes and such to pull up children and others incapable of riding in enclosed baskets/palanquins basically. The worm never goes below the surface while a scale is kept open, and they ride the worms until they tire them out as it is very energy intensive for the worm to be at the surface. What they do to get off is to just close the scales again and the worm will immediately start to seek to go under the sand again, and if they tired out the worm enough it will not even try to come back and attack them, especially since they probably rode the worm into the territory of another worm and the worm's primary desire at that point is to escape other worms nearby as its weakened from the ride. Fremen count the distance of travels by how many worms they need to ride to get there, as a worm can only go so far before it tires out and they need to let it go and catch a new one to ride.
