Thank you! I bought a historic home near Dallas TX, zone 7b a year ago and the yard is mostly patchy thin bermuda, and I don't even like bermuda, and multiple varieties of weeds. I need to mow twice a week after rain because the weeds grow tall almost overnight, Lol. The only areas I do like are the small clover patches so I began researching ground covers My yard is small and I decided to go with a mowable ground cover so was considering clover or kurapia, but not sure it grows here, so after watching this I will now definitely use clover and experiment with a clover kurapia mix on one part and may experiment with clover and centipede as well after seeing yoursI I really like that clover grows from seeds not plugs, definite plus! You may already know this by now, since this video haha, but you can mow it to 1 inch and train it that way and even at an inch the clover will still flower when you need it to, after about a year of establishing. I just sowed 2 acres of my property along with bermuda. Clover is meant to be mowed low, or does better lower so it spreads , kind of like bermuda. I'm also in zone 7b.

@gardenonahillvin

Tim C on my first try I only mowed the grass or weeds as low as I can and used a pitchfork to aerate the soil which took forever. A better solution was to buy a scarifier about $80 from Lowe’s or Home Depot to expose the ground. Clover seeds would need exposed soil to successfully germinate.

s andy clover will actually help the grass based on my experience specially in the summer. You may need to mow an existing lawn very low and scarify the soil so the clover seeds can have a chance to sprout. I suggest fall on my summer video update but it does take a while to sprout. I personally cannot speak about micro clover as I used durana which grows y’all here but there is one video I watched where micro clover was used and it looked good.

what kind of fertilizer do you use for your clover- grass lawn? You also mentioned not to use nitrogen on clover lawns. What happens to the clover-grass lawn if you did apply nitrogen to it?
@gardenonahillvin

Hello. You can use some wood ash or espoma triple phosphate or any fertilizer that is high in phosphorus and scatter it around . Clover does not really require to be fertilized with nitrogen and is meant to not be fertilized at all but if you add some triple phosphate from espoma or wood ash you’ll see a big difference when it takes off in spring.

rogelio delgado I’m in Zone 7B so it gets hot and it’s been flourishing although we’ve had some regular rain. I’m waiting July August which is the peak of heat to fully asses. I think 50 50 is good but if you want more clover you can always bump it up to 70/30. I noticed it’s easier to grow clover than grass just remember sow the clover seeds first then the grass after.
