This movie soundtrack is just insanely good, with this great Burt Bacharach/Hal David song (it really has that "Bacharach" sound to it) and the main body of the score performed by Herb Albert and the Tijauna Brass, it belongs in any serious collection of great movie soundtracks from the 1960's. And the Daniel Craig Casino Royale is not really a remake of this movie, but a direct adaptation of the Ian Fleming novel, while this could be considered a spoof of same, as well as a spoof of the whole Bond genre.

Oh, Dusty Springfield - she has a gorgeous voice, and a really long list of great songs. She had many hits in the UK before eventually cracking into the US market. Try some of these: "I only want to be with you", (her first solo hit), "You don't have to say you love me", "Son of a preacher man" (her first big US hit); "The windmills of your mind". There are more from the 60s, but that's a good start. Then you'll have to jump to her collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys in the '80s, for "What have I done to deserve this?" Dusty had her own shown on British TV for much of the '60s - guests included the very newly famous Beatles, as well as virtually every other UK pop performer of that era

Both the 1967 and the 2006 movies had the same title (Casino Royale) and they both involved JAMES BOND but the 2006 movie is not a remake of the 1967 movie. The 1967 movie was a nonsensical/ lightweight comedy-spoof (one of the stars was Woody Allen) of James Bond and other spy movies while the 2006 movie was a very serious James Bond movie. In fact the 1967 movie is generally considered to be a spoof of James Bond movies rather than being considered an official James Bond movie

Dusty was referred to as "blue-eyed soul", because although she was white, like Elvis, radio audiences thought they were black. Her British TV show often featured up-and-coming American "Motown" recording artists, long before they became famous in the United States. She often had trouble remembering song lyrics, so if you saw her gently moving her arms and hands in front of her, as if she was dancing, it's because she had written the words on her skin to sing correctly... 💋

Dusty, Bacharach, Getz - three musicians who helped define the 60s. How could you go wrong? The movie is irrelevant and the images from it do not fit the mood of this perfect intimate love song. My greatest Bond theme remains 'From Russia With Love' (instrumental version). I 'love me some sax' too and recommend the late Michael Brecker's solo on Billy Cobham's exquisite 'Heather' for the definition of 'mellow'.

Getz did not play on the Dusty Springfield soundtrack recordings. However, he did introduce the melody on his own instrumental album, a collection of Bacharach/David songs, one year earlier.
