E-Bikes have allowed me to ride with my dad again, he had a terrible motorbike accident a few years back, he broke the entire lowerhalf of his body and had to replace his knees with metal and alot of parts of his hip with metal, he couldnt walk for a year and still has a hard time going on long walks, he could never ride with me but he has recently bought a Canyon Spectral:ON and can now come out on the trails with me without putting to much stress on his knees, e bikes are amazing and has given a 53 year old man the chance to go out and have a bucket load of fun with his son again

Its too bad they are being banned everywhere. Setting limits is one thing, but my local reserve which was donated land from a family friend set up a mini government and closed half the trails to preserve wildlife and put up signs saying no eBikes. Those trails they closed were there before the wildlife as it was clearcut land 25 years ago and those logging trails became bike trails. FFS, my hub motor is 250 watts.. its barely equal to myself and I'm only using it uphill because its a 8 mile battery.

So you are not legally able to drive because you are not safe to drive on the roads but you should be legally able to ride what is basically a motor cycle around because of what? Because we have decided bicycles don't need a license? How does this make sense to you? If you can kill someone in your car because of a disability you can do it on a motor cycle, even on that is considered a bicycle because it goes "slow". Legal e-bike on bike trails can go well over 20 mph. How is this a good thing?

I'm saving for an e bike now.. till then pedal effort on days I can and one wheel riding mon those days I'm lazy or cashed :)

We changed from running to cycling but Al sees no joy in 30-50 mile road trips! Ali, I was so excited to see Danny's eMTB video, but I am even more excited to see you riding an eMTB and doing so with Danny! I rarely see videos with Danny just going out and riding without a full scale video production. Nice line at 7:25 "I sure showed that tree who's boss". At 10:45 "How can I not get up this?" I've learned that the trick to tech climbing is to learn forward, sometimes go straight, up and over the obstacles (you might go around/avoid otherwise on a bio-bike to preserve energy) don't allow the bike to bounce backward, don't stop pedaling (otherwise the dynamic effect of the torque sensor will cause the torque to oscillate on/off and disrupt the torque flow), and sometimes it is better to be in the middle power setting so the bike doesn't get too punchy and lose the line. I can climb some crazy steep stuff. 13:51 awesome downhill run! 15:32 I think I determined you were using the HERO8 with GoPro's Protective Housing. Were you using the skeleton back or the closed back (I'm guessing the open because audio was pretty loud. I once fogged my lens from my breath from the inside because my chin mount is not as low as yours. 16:00 Danny, "I get the feeling its harder to go over the bars... I'll probably go over the bars today" 16:30 It was so cool you guys did the DH run again. 17:18 I'm not so sure Danny was going faster than you were! 17:40 Danny' goes over the bars... Your edit was spot on playing back Danny's earlier video clip about going over the bars today! eMTB's enable us to pack so much more into a day! I'm so happy that you guys are having a great time and helping to show the world your new passions! I've got 2200miles on my 2019 Specialized Turbo Levo Expert in the last 12 months... need I say more here are all my Levo videos #LovingLevo . I got mine at age 60 after 25 years of MTB and I've been so stoked at all the places I ride. I read your entire comment in the description and see you've totally got the right perspective. Thanks for sharing... I love you guys! Yes, I had loads of fun watching this one!!

@@Ali_Clarkson Ali, the Skeleton backdoor came with the GoPro protective housing. Look through your box of goodies that came with it if you still have it! Yes, when I reviewed your video again I saw you had a lapel mic. That's definitely important if you want to get the sounds of other people talking in your video. Usually I don't do so, but oftentimes I interact with others and it would be helpful. Ebikes are dream machines, I adore mine! Rides are so much more fun and dynamic than ordinary bikes, climbs are not boring and slow and you still work a lot, especially in Eco mode, which I use 95% of the time. People have totally wrong idea how ebikes work. If you are a rider that likes to push yourself and ride mostly on the edge of your comfort zone, you will absolutely do the same on the ebike, but you will just be faster. Love that you did this video cause anti ebikes people need some enlightenment. But after all, ebike is just another product, you don't have to like it, but there's absolutely no reason to hate it. if it's not for you, it's not for you, use what you like

I hurt my shoulder dirt biking a couple years ago and had to stop riding. Decided to give an e-bike a try to get me back on two wheels. Being almost 50 and out of shape, and not wanting to hold up my friends who are mostly younger and in better shape than I am the e-bike made perfect sense. It's a lot of fun and I still end my rides breathing heavy and legs burning. I just get to go a lot further and faster than if I was on my regular bike. I think of it like a bionic bike, it just amplifies my effort, I still get a great workout riding it. Once I'm back in better shape again I'll probably be able to switch back and forth to my regular bike depending who I'm riding with and where we're riding. It was expensive but I really enjoy riding it so I think it was worth it.

I ride a 2019 Meriida E160-800.... I'm now 61 and bought my E-Bike because I was unable to keep up with the boys on their normal bikes; I had the choice of either getting a E-Bike or stop riding, as riding was no longer fun. I can now keep up with their lively pace with ease, and carry a spare battery in my Camelback, so a 30-50 mile jaunt around the South Wales Valleys is still very possible. I've still got my old short-travel 2011 Santa Cruz Tallboy, which I occasionally ride with one of the boys who likes riding at my pace... so do these bikes only assist your pedaling or is there a mode where you can hold a button to go (and not have to peddle)?
ebikes make grown men giggle like little girls. it's scientifically proven ;)

my second ride is a specialized kenevo. It rides down the hill just like my YT noton. After flat tyre I went up with my ebike and riding the freeridetrail in Gotschna klosters just the same as with my lighter bike. I am still stoked of the posibilitys it offers.

Build your own.. it really is not a difficult thing to do. My old Trek now has a 1200 watt hub motor ( over 1000 miles and still going strong ) that gets me up any hill and I am in the PNW.. very hilly and mountainous. Still light enough to pedal and enjoy with no assist but, at 650$ to build.. I can fly to the trial on the road at 35 MPH , then drop down the level and enjoy my day without worrying about someone breaking into my car or pay some stupid fees to park. For that price i have 50 miles of pure electric/ no pedaling at all of range @ 30 MPH AVG, 100 + miles of range if I actually pedal and enjoy a trail ride or 20. It is stupid NOT to have an E Bike. Why waste your fuel and pay extra just to park when your going to ride anyway? Also, traffic doesn't get angry and zoom past me, they ride with me mostly as if i was a car or pass me wide and controlled due to me going the same or close to the same speed. MUCH SAFER!!!

Never even considered a ebike like the workout getting to the top until i watched dannys vid when he said can get up twice as fast so can go down the trail twice in the same amount of time on a bike made sense lets face it most of us only climb up for the fun we get going back down

ebikes are so cool - naysayers probably didnt ride one. what could possibly be wrong with riding a bike in the mountains, being wasted by the end of the day and covering 3x times the area? as to the very vid I always enjoy watching Danny and your Ali keeping up with him on the slope is nothing but impressive! great riding!

@@Ali_Clarkson awesome. looking forward to these vids! FYI, after seeing that map with pins on the wall at tartybikes in your vid, I looked into them and realized I could get a better deal ordering from the UK than from the inspired dealers out here in the US. So I just ordered my first trials bike -- an Arcade!

As a casual rider, have both hard tail and a Giant Trance e+0 ebike and seriously .. you just cant beat it. I get the old gaurd are bit put out by them, but if I can ride something that lets me do more trails and cover more ground for the same effort, im all for it. Both my father and I have taken to doing more and bigger chanllenges which we wouldnt normally have the extreme fitness for because of busy lives.

I got a KTM Macina Lycan 271 in 2018, bought a spare battery now days out are longer and higher... been up the top of Sgor Gaioth (1118m) several times... Seen Danny out and about on his so yeah he's seriously into them I reckon! I've never had so much fun without the grimaces and dread of climbing and tech uphills are more fun than downhills to me... the weight (22kg) is a bonus downhill and now I've lost 15kg even the extra weight of the bike and a second battery (10kg combined) means I'm still winning!!!
