This video shows how I can deliver minute quantities of diluted E6000, a drop at a time or in a thin line, with a disposable blunt-tip syringe. Pay attention to every detail as each detail is important to success.
• Have all tools ready because you have to work fast before glue starts to dry.
• Have a vial of diluted E6000 on hand. See E6000 Thinner / Solvent - KZitem : • E6000 Thinner / Solvent for details.
• Pour some solvent (toluol) in the cap of the can for cleaning purposes.
• Clean the gluing surface, in this case the surrounding edge of the membrane, with solvent. A Q-tip is handy for small areas.
• Notice how I pry open the plastic underside of the trackpad to allow access to the foot that I will glue the membrane to.
• Shake the vial to mix glue and solvent.
• Extract glue with a small blunt-tip syringe, 5 ml in this case, available on Amazon or eBay.
• Wipe needle with solvent to have a clean tip.
• Carefully dab glue on gluing surface, a little at a time, and spread it thin.
• Pick up small parts with fine tweezers. In this case, the solvent softened the thin plastic membrane and it flopped around so I had to wipe off glue on the bottom.
• Carefully put the part in position and press gently but firmly in place.
• Clean off any stray glue with the Q-tip dipped in solvent.
• Clean the needle with solvent and stick a common pin into the needle so you can leave the glue in there and use it later. I freeze the glue and syringe so it lasts indefinitely.
• Cap the glue vial.
• Pour remaining solvent back into the can.
• Tighten the cap with a strap wrench. This insures that no evaporation takes place. This solvent is highly volatile.
• Let glue dry overnight for best results.
