It’s early summer, and our local farmers are between spring and summer harvests. It’s exciting to see the new items that are available, like sweet bulbs of fennel, bunches of basil, and summery squash. Rita shares a variety of fresh produce from last weekend’s Prescott Farmer’s Market, along with two delicious recipes: Braised Fennel with Tomato and Thyme, and Waldorf Salad with Apples, featuring salad turnips. Both dishes are packed with flavor and healthy ingredients straight from the market. Be sure to stop by your local farmer’s market regularly to watch the seasons change and to take advantage of the freshest and most delicious produce available. You can follow Rita on Facebook at YRMC’s Your Healthy Kitchen, where she posts photos and recipes of the meals she makes at home, along with links to some of her favorite food and garden sites on the web.
