This song came out in 1978. After the success of the Bee Gees Saturday Night Fever album this group Earth, Wind & Fire wanted to write a hit party song too and that's when they came up with this song as part of a best hits record. That's ironic because September was never part of a new original album. But, it became their most famous song.

When I was in High School we use to say, the best way to enjoy Earth, Wind and Fire was when you were either Drunk or High. LOL This song was released in 1978. I think the "Peace Era" has different meaning for different people. Some people consider it the time after WWII which runs from mid 1940s until the 1990's, but other people would probably think it was the time of the Hippie generation which ran from 1960 - 1980, basically the reign of the Beatles. Peace, Love & Happiness. Unfortunately for them it also meant Pot, Mushrooms and LSD.

Shiloh, this is one EWF’s (aka the elements of the universe) disco influenced 70s songs. Take a deep dive into full catalogue of one of the greatest bands of all time. Reasons (live) Can’t Hide Love, Devotion, I Write a Song, and the list goes on and on. Just grab the album Gratitude, it’ll give you a good taste of their music. Try to watch live performances, because that’s when they let Phillip Bailey go off.

agreed. I don't think they have a bad album. check out Brazilian Rhyme too. as for the trippiness, they were one of many groups that embraced what people call afrofuturism. early Commodores stuff is comparable, and of course Parliament, Funkadelic, Undisputed Truth, Stargard, Faze-O, War, Bootsy Collins, Zapp... but if you just wanna hear some good music my recommendation is Cymande "Dove", the original version, then "Bra".
