People talk about the ‘good old days,’ but I’m old enough to know that they weren’t always that great. I started smoking cigars back in the 1980's and probably ruined a humidor by seasoning it using the ‘wipe it down with a damp cloth’ technique. This is a great advancement, and clearly the way to go!

Season with Boveda !!! Even if it costs more for the Boveda than the humidor costs , do it . Ultimately your CIGARS are the real investment . Treat em right and enjoy ! My first humidor I used the liquid provided by manufacturer with the gel beads. Although it worked the variation seemed tough to control. Then I soaked it down with "winter" solution and re-seasoned. I saw this video and when I got my new humidor at Christmas from the same manufacturer I decided to try the Boveda kit. So far so good. Humidity in my house is in the mid 40% range. I threw 4 84% packs into my 100 cc humidor. After 48hrs it is at 75%. These packs work so well that I bought a couple 72% for my tupperware and 1st humidor to maintain humidity around 68%.

I bought a cheap wooden humidor of Amazon and used the Boveda starter packs and the 72’s after the two weeks. Soon after I noticed the humidity wasn’t holding properly at all. I contacted Boveda and they sent me for free some 75’s, and a hygrometer calibration kit. After some frustration I gave up on the wood humidor and switched to a tupperdor with Boveda packs and it’s been perfect. Boveda’s customer service was great and they didn’t have to send me anything free, but they did and that’s pretty damn cool!

My cigars smoke the best at 60-65 max. When smoking in the humid summer, I put them out in the ac for a couple days before smoking, this way the cigar doesn't turn to a sponge in 20 minutes like it will if I keep them in the humidor above 65.

Haha I freaking called it when I said that resoaking packs would mess them up. I keep recharged packed to only boost humidity when I see it has dropped significantly. Didn't realized it fwas 90% thought. The water just freely moved back through thr membrane and during soaking you have lost salt to the soaking water. That is why they are slimy when soaked again.

TLDR: Its too humid and I don't know the root cause, help. I ended up going old school method as that was what how my kit came, seasoned with distilled water, calibrated my hydrometer (one analogy and one digital) with the salt cap method to 75%RH and used distilled water and PG liquid in my humidifier. of course leaving 48 ours between each step of seasoning, acclimating and then sensors in and then humidifier. its been a couple weeks now of back and forth testing but I can seem to get my humidor down below 75-80%RH. I'm concerned I have over seasoned and or (more likely) my humidifier may be too large for my humidor (its the one that came with my Savinelli desktop humidor- potentially 50 cigar capacity). I have doubts about this as its the one that came with it but I have a smaller humidifier I can down size to. Does anyone have any times or tricks that could help me, I am now to this! thanks in advance.
