I live in the eastern side of the United States, and for me I use a cigar oasis 3.0, and I have it set to 65 degrees Fahrenheit, and 65% humidity. This seems to work perfectly in my electric humidor. Every cigar always smokes perfectly, and tastes perfectly. I get nice slow even burn, and the cherry seems to stay lit longer this way. My cigars don’t randomly go out unless I get a tunneling issue, which is of course a construction issue, and can’t be solved. But as long as it’s constructed properly, they seem to be happy at 65/65.

I started out with an acrylic container that worked fine. It kept the Rh fine at whatever Boveda pack I put in. I then added a wooden desktop humidor. I wanted more space and the look in my home office. I quickly learned that trying to maintain the desired Rh & temperature in that wooden humidor was a chore and hard to get right. I just recently purchased a Kingchii 26L thermoelectric humidor, to step up my cigar game. So far, it’s a great unit! Once I got it seasoned, it holds my desired Rh perfectly. I even purchased a couple Govee smart/Bluetooth hygrometers to monitor the units. I’ve been trying to keep the Rh @ 69 - 70%, but after doing some research, I think I’m going to go down to around 67-68%. Now I’m keeping the wooden humidor for the looks and and cigars I’m going to smoke right away or within a short time frame, the acrylic for any of my infused cigars and the Kingchii for all other cigars and storing/aging. Throughout all this, I’ve always used Boveda packs. Thanks for all the tips Tim!👍🏾

Optimal moisture content for cigar tobacco is 10% - 14%, depending on the region in which it was grown. This allows for optimal ratios of the chemicals in cigars in relation to the quality of the leaves. That equates to a range of relative humidity levels between 60-70% regardless of temperature. Therefore the smoker's preference, the region the tobacco was grown, and the producer's curing and storage methods, all allow for a relative humidity range from ~58% - 78% (mold issues notwithstanding) for cigars and it's really up to the end user on which cigars vs. rh works best for them. Another note to add is you can have perfect conditions for your cigar but still have bitter or grassy, hay tasting smokes and sometimes the wrapper breaks apart too easily. That is due to the producer improperly curing the tobacco by attempting to rush the curing stages by using too high of a temp for too long. Even dry cigars can be revitalized as long as they weren't subject to high storage temps. There is nothing you can do about any of that.

I’m running a small desktop humidor. Playing around at keeping RH to where I want. I’m running a 68-70rh. It goes up or down a little depending on temp in my room. My room temp goes up and down all day long because of heater running. I have bóveda packs in there and small puck with the water beads thing. Does the rh fluctuation adversely affects my cigars?
