Great Christmas project and great instructions. I have a request. You always say when finished send to your longarmer. I wish you would also encourage your viewers to quilt their own quilts. Every quilter should know how to machine quilt. Machine quilting is my favorite part of the quilting process. I like to know I've done every part of the workmanship. I understand some quilters are uncomfortable quilting a queen size quilt at home. But it can be done beautifully. It just takes practice. So if you can in the future encourage new quilters to learn how. Thanks. 😊

GREAT VIDEO. The quilt is beautiful, as are the fabrics. For those who have never cut on the bias, this was an excellent instructional video. For those of us who have, this was a great " how-to" reminder. You made cutting and sewing with bias binding doable and easy. One just has to take time when doing it. Slow and steady makes it perfect. 😍🪡🧵

I’ve made bias binding. There are tables that tell you how big your square needs to be for a certain length. I can’t hand stitch, but I think I would glue it down if I made this. But I’d make it a table topper. Beacon 123 glue is the best or just a good fabric glue. Great tutorial.

I wouldn't use a rotary cutter to cut the circle. All it takes is one slip of the cutter and you've ruined your quilt. I'd draw the circle onto the quilt first. I'd just pinch the fabric in the center of the circle and cut the pinched fabric so you can get the scissors started. ALSO, there is usually a slit cut from the circle to one edge so you can get the skirt around the tree stand, otherwise, you have to put the stand under the skirt and hope you get the tree trunk into the stand without damaging the skirt's opening.
@coribeckett7400

What a great suggestion. I think the center circle without the side slit is intended for artificial trees. If you were using a natural tree 🌲 I think a slit would be essential.
@ladyd54
Жыл бұрын
Cori, most artificial trees today you don’t add the individual limbs, they are either panels hung or they are a full tree that folds down with the top of the tree being added to the top of the post.

How did you know what size square to start with when making bias binding?
@FatQuarterShopTX
Жыл бұрын
Hello Judy! There are lots of charts on google. The formula is the width of the binding strip x the length of binding strips needed. Then take the square root of that number for the size square needed. So for the tree skirt, 2.5” wide strips are used and a length of 260” is needed. 2.5” x 260” = 650. The square root of 650 is 25.49 so round up to a 26” square.
