If you take 2 of the charm squares and sew a 1/4” seam on left and right sides. Then cut in half. You would have to squares sewn at once? =)

Easy Peasy and it looks beautiful. I love shopping online with the Sewing Studio...always such fast delivery. I was so looking forward to visiting the shop when we were due to see family in Helston but travel restrictions put paid to that! Oh well, you’ll just have to keep posting out to Edinburgh 😊

Hi I'm a new subscriber to your Channel I see that you were making blocks using two two and 1/2 inch strips from a charm pack have you ever seen how Jenny at Missouri Star Quilt Company does it it is quite a bit quicker and makes everything a little easier she sews all of her 5-inch squares together in one long row and then she folds them over and cuts them at two and a half and by the time you're finished you've got a bunch of 5 in or rather four and a half inch squares
I have sewn two blocks with the highlight fabric but mine are .25" too long on the highlight fabric. If i have made a mustake I've only just started so easy to fix.

I have a newbie question. Please forgive my ignorance. What is the filet part for? I've not ever seen a quilt video with pieces that stick out like that so I'm just wondering what it is for. (I've only ever made one quilt top and am struggling with the actual machine quilting so I'm absolutely new, new to making quilts so my questions can be dumb sometimes. LOL!)

I don’t think you have a dumb question! We’ve thought our children(now adult) “if you don’t ask, you won’t know😀. I’ve sewn my whole life but new to quilting. I’ve understood the filet is also called a piping. It is not for any function just look, adding another or contrast to it. I’m sure you’ve seen piping on clothing. I hope this is helpful ❤️😀

@@rachelburgener819 thank you so much! It does look super pretty for sure! I want to try quilting as you go because I'm so awful at the quilting for a whole quilt. Haha! Thanks again for your feedback! I think arts and crafts communities are the nicest when it comes to asking questions and I really appreciate your response. ❤️

Oopsie after rereading I found a typo😝 *taught. Yes I to would like to try quilt as you go. I chose to tie my first one; I think🤔 free motion or stitch in the ditch just takes practice!!! Maybe try on pillow size or pot holders is my thought. BTW you are welcome ❤️😀

Hello Christine, a fillet is a folded piece of fabric that is stitched into a seam with the folded edge left loose. This is often called a flange too!
