I made this today 4/20/24 for my husband ‘s birthday. It was easy and delicious! I used Besti brown sugar, then refrigerated it and the brown sugar came out crusty, perfect. Another part I did different was putting the boiling water in the pan first then setting the ramekins in after. I added hot water as needed to go half way up. Worked great! It’s so so good! Thank you!

@@lowcarbabode I ate the crème brûlée custard with red raspberries for breakfast. No brown sugar. Yum! The custard is a delicious recipe. (I use Allulose).

Me too!!! So glad the twins did the rustic bread! Now my hubby will so enjoy this recipe… Creme Brûlée is a major favorite of his, until Keto… 🤷♀️ But now I can surprise him!!

Not in this recipe. Also, for the topping I use Swerve Brown which has a warm vanilla/molasses flavor 😊

I didn't know they changed it! That's a really good question and unfortunately I don't know. I guess I will find out as soon as I'm running out of my current stash of Swerve Brown. In the meantime, if anyone tries it with the new version, let me know ❤️

Can you use anything else besides erythritol for the cream base? I find it leaves a cooling sensation and a bit of stomach upset. It also re-crystallizes when cold. Other than that, your recipe is intriguing. I always wanted to try it but can’t have the sugar.

While I have only tried it with erythritol, I think for the custard you should be able to use your sweetener of choice. Just for the "sugar" topping, you need to use erythritol.

@@lowcarbabode that makes sense because you want it to harden. Have you ever experienced crystallization in the custard using erythritol?

@@1rayne I haven't. I think it helps that it's only 1/4 cup of erythritol.

Thank you for your responses. Perhaps I should just try it and see how it turns out. You only use a small amount of erythritol, so maybe it won’t re-crystallize.
