I cannot believe I was able to recover my 10-years old Samsung Smart TV with this!!!! I just followed the same instructions. In my case the module which has the touch buttons, has also the IR receiver for the remote control. So I couldn't leave it disconnected. But somehow disconnecting it temporary (plus some contacts cleaning) and turning it on once, was enough to get rid from the power cycle issue. Anyway, I plugged in again the module and it still working fine. I cannot say thanks enough.

Here is the real easy fix. Never buy a Samsung TV ever again. Their quality has plummeted. My TV which is not even 2 years old has started doing the on and off cycling. How convenient that the TV starts screwing up after the 1 year Warranty ends. Really? That's the last Samsung TV I will ever buy.
@Odette321
8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Our Samsung lost the picture a few months ago, so then I was using it as a speaker for the computer. Now it just makes the turning on sound and there's no sound coming out of it for the computer anymore after it worked like that for a few months. Samsung is crap really especially since it did that right after the warranty ran out.
@margaretlittlejohn4566
8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Samsung quality lacking. Samsung did replace faulty tv capacitors a few years ago free of charge. Then recently the standby light began to flicker constantly and tv shut off and on. Disconnecting the cable by the manual power switch fixed the problem. We always use the remote anyway. Next TV won't be Samsung.

Thank you for the video. I don't want to seem as ungrateful but you didn't show what you actually did to fix it. I know it was the side something plug (?) but you didn't show how to hook it up or disconnect it. On a side note, we won the TV in a raffle and has done well given it was free. We won't be buying a Samsung ever because they are the most invasive of our personal and private information of all the major brands out there. The one we have was manufactured in 2013 and is just now doing the power on off. Another reason not to buy and is a known issue and they refuse to fix. As far as the video, i'll have to watch another video to see if they do a complete video. Thank you anyway and appreciate those who take the time to post them. It's a great service you offer. With my KTXG 5300 40" I unplugged the HDMI Cable from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 and it's now not doing the power on off anymore. Some of the Samsung TV's have a trap door on the back cover over the power supply inside. If you have that, you can also unplug the power supply and plug it back in and that's worked for others. I didn't have the trap but switching the HDMI port cable worked for me. If neither of those options not available, I would have been forced to remove the entire back panel and this might have worked out. Next would have been to throw it out because typically its more expensive to fix than to just buy new. IMO

My Samsung TV was turning it self on and off too., it got to the point it would turn on and off every few seconds. I tried a lot off different fixes that I read online, and on KZitem videos, but nothing I did worked.. Some fixes may work for other people, which is great, but none worked for me. Then I took notice that my TV was really getting pretty hot to the touch very quickly after turning it on. So I turned it off, so it would cool down, then I placed a fan near the back of it for an hour after I turned it back on., it never once turned it self on or off that whole hour. Then I removed the fan, and with in a few minutes my TV started turning on and off again. So I turned off the TV, let it cool again, and replaced the fan back behind my TV once again, and it's been on now for 24 hours straight, and not once has it turned it self on and off again. This maybe a fix for some people, and some not a fix, but it's worth a try if anyone is having this on and off problem with their Samsung TV... :) I live in the Cayman Islands, so Samsung parts, or finding a TV fix it shop isn't an easy thing to come by here without paying an arm and a leg, and ya first born.. :) So it could very well be a heat problem with the Motherboard or something getting to hot inside the TV... A fan could be a solution, It's worth a try! Hope this helps.

yea mine does that. The TV cycles on and off several times before it stays on. Then if I use the TV remote for ANYTHING--menu, sleep timer, volume--ANYTHING--it will start cycling off and on again, with a static clicking sound as it reboots. I'm just using it for my firestick. Once on, it works very well with the Firestick, no matter how long I watch it. Is there anyway for me, a non-tech person to gerry rig it so it just turns on perhaps with a surge protector on--off button? Well I am good at tearing my computer apart and fixing it, but no expertise in soldering.

In your case most probably your backlights are just switching off and not the power of the TV. By turning down the backlights, you are lowering the strain on the inverter circuit and ccfl lamps, so it makes sense if something in the inverter circuit or one of the ccfl lamps are faulty. Hope your TV remains stable.

My Samsung doesn't turn on at all. When you unplug the power and then plug it back in the TV will click ON and OFF very quickly multiple times for a few seconds and then it turns off. It seems like my problem is a little different than the one in the video. Should I try this fix anyway?

Your problem is very different to the one in the video. You need to troubleshoot your power supply, check the capacitors etc... Good luck!

Interesting... I just found that a bad TCON board can cause basically the same symptoms too. The TV would turn on as soon as plugged in, make the little Samsung "warble" sound, then click off and repeat. No bloated capacitors on power board (and this one has no on TV buttons or controls as far as I can tell!), but as I tested it unplugging various parts and plugging the power cord back in I finally found that when I unplugged the ribbon to the TCON board the TV stopped turning itself off (no picture now of course)... with TCON plugged back in, it goes back to cycling itself, without TCON plugged in it comes on and stays on but no picture (of course!). Amazing how many different problems can cause this same symptom on these Samsung TV's it's like if ANYTHING is wrong anywhere inside the thing it powers on then powers off and repeats! LOL! Going to try getting a good used TCON board for it now and see if I can get a stable picture back on again. :-)

Does anyone know how he disconnects the cable going to the side panel. Does he cut it or do something specific as it wasn’t made very clear in the video

Hi can you please send a reply repeating what you said from 2:20-2:30. My tv is almost identical, and I tried what you said and it appeared to have made my tv work just about perfectly. But was wondering what did you specifically touch and short with the screwdriver? it was kinda blocked in the video

rzs1361 Shorting out the capacitors does not make any repair, all it does is discharge the capacitor from any residual current.

The only way you will find out, is by unplugging the cable as I have done in this video. Good luck!

If the TV doesn't turn on by itself with the board disconnected, it's safe to say that the problem is that board. Replace it and you should be good to go. Good luck!
