Honey, you don't have to smash the garlic like that. Just put your knife flat on its side on top of ur garlic (on its side and after u cut the top) and give it a good smack. No flying garlic skin and mess.

You don't need to give someone advice they didn't ask for. Less when you open with a condescending "Honey". To be honest i would still listen to what *my* father that is a *chef* said instead that what a stranger on the internet said.

You can just crush the clove of garlic with the side of your knife; the skin peels right off, you don't get covered in garlic smell and it actuallymakes the garlic tastier because it releases the flavor. I use garlic daily so I've gotten pretty darn good at peeling the cloves 😂

One method of peeling garlic that has worked for me, is to break up the cloves, trim off ends, place them in a bowl, and pour boiling water over them. Let them sit in the boiling water for a couple of minutes, then drain off the water. When cool enough to handle, then easily peel off the skins. The skins don’t even stick to your fingers. Another way of peeling garlic that worked fairly well is to put the cloves* in a glass jar and with the lid on shake the jar really hard. (*Cut off the ends first.)

Usually i just use the flat side of the knife for pressing using my weight to the garlic. Sometimes I also used the lemon squeezer thing. I just put the garlic inside and squeeze a bit to open the garlic and take off the garlic peel easily. Just dont forget to wash your lemon squeezer afterward so it will not smell.

Use two bowls with similar ratio and throw your garlic cloves in it. Then shake it like your life depends on it and the skin will peel itself. That's if you want it whole. Otherwise you can just always lay your knife flat on top and smash it to give it an easy peel.
