This is really great, thanks! This is very similar to a braise but BBQ pork style, this is an excellent way to make good BBQ pork at home. I used to bake my bbq pork but I want to give it a try this way, my recipe is similar but a little more americanized.

Very interesting way of making charsiew. I think a big plus for your method is that there is no burnt bits that occurs during baking. I'll try this out next time I make charsiew! Thanks for sharing!

This is the most horrifying way to make Char Siu; in other words, NOT even Char Siu, just pan-fried pork. Lame. Most Chinese cooks will consider this garbage!!!

@kenny, im a chinese cook and this is not garbage. Yes this is not the way authentic char siu cooked, but its okay to be innovative, not everybody have an oven so i guess this video helps a lot. If you dont like the video, just dont watch it. No need to be so rude and arrogant.

I agree with Kenny. Although that was kinda rude, your point is valid. What he could have done was pan seared the meat till nearly cooked THEN tossed it in the oven with some honey on it to get that darker color and distinct charred flavor. What he made here was closer to braised pork, not Char Sui. But to each his own.
