@absbse
2 жыл бұрын
@@halalhangouts yes definitely, alkahaf has better portion size and the flavour of the meat haneed is better and more fresh, I prefer Banaadiri instead of brothers in Finsbury park. Aljazeera in Leyton is ok but they only serve haneed on Fridays and meat portion is smaller. I didn't see you guys try the meat soup that they usually give as starters complimentary , or even their special zanjabeel (ginger) tea . Also in Streatham, Somali town restaurant is good to try out, it's all about the haneed

3:46 the inshallah was sufficient brother. We shouldn’t use fingers crossed. That concept stems from Christians if not the pagans of early Europe. May Allah bless you all with khayr. اللّهُـمَّ إِنّـي أَعـوذُبِكَ أَنْ أُشْـرِكَ بِكَ وَأَنا أَعْـلَمْ، وَأَسْتَـغْفِرُكَ لِما لا أَعْـلَم Allaahumma 'innee 'a'oothu bika 'an 'ushrika bika wa 'anaa 'a'lamu, wa 'astaghfiruka limaa laa 'a'lamu O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest I associate anything with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I know not. (Ahmad 4:403) Also, 4:20 the bananas are a staple of Somali cuisine. Its eaten with the main meal and adds a sweetness to the savory dishes. It complements the rice, pasta, and meat. Somalis are famous for it but other groups of ppl in Tanzania, Nigeria, and even parts of South America are familiar with it too if I’m not mistaken. It’s not for everyone, but I don’t know if you can technically say you tried Somali food if it’s not included 😛 And oh (I keep editing my comments as I watch the video lol) the green chili sauce is called basbaas.

Do they have any menus in Al-Khaf coz I’ve been to a Somali cafe style restaurant, sat down with my mates expecting a few menus but didn’t get one. We called one of the waiter guys over who also happened to be the chef for a menu and the brother told us they don’t do menus. We were a bit surprised by that I mean how did they expect us to order, did they think we were gonna guess the food they had. I asked the brother again and then next thing you know he started lacing out some of the dishes so quickly which left me and my mates so confused. We just ended up leaving, the service and welcome was most definitely not up to a decent standard so I hope Al-Khaf is better, will check it out one day iA

I heard brothers is a good Somali restaurant

There’s two distinct style of Somali restaurants, one is a cafe which is normally for Men/boys to eat, have tea and chill. This type you won’t see any menus and is geared towards Somalis (Men), you won’t even see any Somali women/girls chilling at this type of restaurant/cafe. It sounds like you ended up in one of these. The other more modernised restaurant as the other poster mentioned will have menus and all sorts of people there, this is the type I would recommend. If you’re based in South London you should try Somali Town Restaurant in Streatham, South London. I haven’t been but heard it’s good. Otherwise you can go to Savaanh in Shepherd’s Bush or The Village in Hammersmith. The village has the best rice imo and last time I was there there were more non-Somalis than Somalis. Good luck !
