Although your English is a little hard for me to understand! But u r the only one of the techers who I have met can explain it simply and clearly and not like another teachers, who just want to read the conclusions from the Powerpoint ... thanks a lot, sir

Sir my doubt is in slip approach as u mentioned the edge dislocation line was caused due to the slip ie burgers vector and then established the relation as b and t are perpendicular. But in case of screw dislocation u mention b and t are parallel but how come the edge dislocation line be parallel to burgers vector when slip itself is responsible for the formation of edge dislocation line it, should ve been perpendicular to slip .. ?
@saicharan9174

bro did you get the answer ...............i too have the same question?? how is it possible that burgers vector is parallel to tangent vector......because burgers vector itself is the reason for dislocation line moving in perpendicular direction

@@saicharan9174 Professor is right, i think you are confused by the Vector notation on 'b' -> (the line arrow on the letter b) which is horizontal line. Just follow the movement direction (y direction)'I', not the vector arrow on top of b (x direction) so 'b' and 't' are parallel, both are in the y direction

Is the direction of burgers vector and Shear stress applied same?
@introductiontomaterialsscience
4 жыл бұрын
Applied stress can be of any type (tensile/shear) and in any orientation. But only the shear component of the applied stress on the slip plane in the direction of the Burgers vector is effective in moving the dislocation.

Which dislocation movement is easier in fcc and bcc crystals and does the most dense packed planes exhibit resistance to the dislocation climb ???
@introductiontomaterialsscience

@ Deepak Rao: When you say which dislocation movement is easier, what exactly do you mean?
@sankalp7135

The probability in BCC to slip is more than FCC as BCC has 48 slip system and FCC has 12. Also denser crystallographic plane become the slip plane, plane where slip occurs contrary to what we think
