I would love this engine in a KFA Safari XL build I am thinking about starting in early 2024! I'm looking for 160 Hp to 180 Hp with turbo and lighter installed engine weight that other options.

Nice build. Brilliant on the position sensor off the pump. So what is the Price point and lead time?

Thank you. You can see engine pricing here. Lead time currently 6-8 weeks. shop.edgeperformance.no/butikk/aviation-engines/ep-boxer-motorer

Have you done anything new with the gearbox to accommodate the higher power?

It’s good for 250HP, so only clutch adjustments.

Very informative. Thank you. What’s the turbos critical altitude and max continuous?
@@EdgePerformanceNorway your website says the critical altitude is 15,000 not 24,000 and there’s nothing about max continuous horsepower…

@@Captndarty It says: Maximum operating altitude 23,000 feet and: Power output: 160HP (118Kw)/180HP (133Kw) 224Nm (113ft/lb) @ 5800rpm So I expect max continuous to be 160 hp

@@flexairz I know what the maximum operating altitude is I never ask that. I asked the critical altitude where the turbo makes the most power. He has two versions a 160 hp and the 180 hp models. Neither show the maximum continuous.

@@Captndarty I have the same questions. Also wonder what the HP is a Max ECO power.
So that’s 180 hp for take off and 160 max continuous hp?

Instead of forever being reliant on difficult expensive hacks of already overpriced rotax engines you really really should make a turbofan jet engine from scratch instead. scaled down version of Williams FJ33 is a simple approach, it's actually a much simpler engine than a piston engine, much cheaper to make and for the ~600kg MTOW category it would only have to be around 15kg. So very small, very light, simple device, with natural twin engine redundancy, jet speeds, high altitude performance and fuel efficiency comparable to good pistons. World long distance record of 40000km without refueling belongs to Williams FJ44 turbofan engine so shake off any idea of jets having inherent bad fuel economy. Think about it.
