Another gooder. Thanks for starting from square one for us beginers. You put the 'fun' in "fundamentals". '-)

I was going to ask about the inside/outside face thing, but your read my mind, updated the video with the answer before I got to the end. Aaron is a sketchup video god. LOL

Thank you for your tutorials. They are a great help in understanding the basics. Your videos on manipulating edges and faces, especially the one on why a face won't close, are invaluable. I am struggling to stretch and shrink objects, particularly when the ends are not squared off, (as in a 45 degree miter). Can you point me to a video that will explain a simple process? Again, Thank you

I did learn something, thanks! One thing I’m curious about is the little “X” my cursor turns into sometimes when creating guides. Probably a beginner mistake on my part.

You didn’t show(or I missed it) how to heal a broken edge by drowning a line from point of connected edges (for strait line) to any direction with erasing that last line drown. It will be healed edge(one solid piece)

Is it possible to select geometry and make it co-planar? This would be a good tool

So, if I understand you, by crossing one line with another line, you actually wind up with 4 lines. Fair enough. But what if you add your second line starting from the origin of the first line and tracing the first line with a second shorter line, do you wind up with one line? Two lines? Or three lines? Without being able to turn on endpoints, it's difficult to see.

A basic question: when you moved the lines, some where moved into 3D space. How does one locate the beginning placement point (or plane) for new geometry? For example: I want to draw some lines on a plane 4” below and existing cube group.
@rickvincent3332

One method would be to use a guide, select the Tape Measure tool and and click on a bottom side of your cube then pull a guide down 4". This will give you a line in the lower plane in either X or Y depending on which side you used.

Thanks. Newbie. Having difficulty with closing in the "last" face building rails (polygons) with compound angles. Constantly circling the edges to see if something was missed. Having trouble with closure. Also, are end of edge points a good tool for inspection?

This may be a very silly question. If I make a square made up of individual lines lower or higher on the z axis than each other, a face doesn’t appear. I’ve tried soapskin and sandbox tools to get a face, but I can’t seem to make a smooth, easy way to do it. Am I missing something very simple? Is there a tutorial video for this?
@SketchUp

A face can only be made up edges that are all on the same plane (by definition, all sides of a plane are... well... coplanar). If you want them to be different heights, you need to make multiple faces.
