This album is a prime example of how a fanbase can negatively impact an album. A large part of his fanbase in my opinion is nothing but “basic” fans that really aren’t sure what country music really is or stands for. I see it everyday, they’ll listen to Morgan wallen in repeat and call themselves country music fans, but wouldn’t be caught dead listening to George strait or hell even Luke Combs for that matter. Morgan wallen is pop with a hint of country mixed in there with the rare excellent country song. There’s a few good ones in this album. But man, I’ve never seen people defend this album so much by saying it’s NOT POP. I’m sorry, but this is largely a pop country album. Which is what a lot of those fans gravitate to because it’s familiar, especially in this generation. I think apps like tik tok have such a toxic and negative effect on music that it skews opinions.
