I agree! Good points for the plain old "based" Great Katana. It's true though and in a lot of games unless the special properties of a named special weapon is truly cracked or game changing, than more often than not the more versatile "base" version of that weapon type can be the true winner of that class. Cheers sir.

Rakshasa’s is still the best overall to me, just for ease of use, the pierce attacks, etc the ash is so so but the weapon is just versatile particularly if you power stance 2 of them

Double Slash on Great Katana is simply put, a very bad choice. So no, you won't be making a better RoB out of it, and no one should even consider this. As for why - For starters because doing it on Nagakiba is simply 200% more feasible, considering it's a light weapon, so the ash of war comes out as fast as it would on RoB + It has the extended range of Kiba as well as increased overall damage output. As for the Great Katana itself, DEX scaled Great Katana with Bloodflame Blade will perform as well (If not better) than the Occult scaled one (This was extensively tested by me on RL150 and I could sparsely notice the difference). Speaking of the Ash Of War options, for the base game they happen to be pretty extensive. The DLC however happens to be an entirely different beast, and unfortunately as a result most of the Ashes will underperform when compared to few outliers (Piercing Fang being a good example).
