Electrician Sherwood Park - Dream It Electric
Well, good day everyone. It's Dusten Huebner here from Electrician Information Resource and today I'm doing an interview with Collin. And we're going to learn a little bit about his company and he's going to tell us what he's all about.
Basically small renovations. I pride myself on being the go-to guy when you have a problem or a question, or you need an answer. I definitely strive myself on being able to provide that. Other than that, that's dreaming electric by the way, I should probably mention that in the beginning. But yeah, no, I'm super excited to be here and hopefully, this takes off.
Right on, okay. So we're going to go over some questions here and we'll just keep chugging along. So when did you start your company?
October 31st, 2016. On my wife's birthday.
Was it her present or what?
It's my present but it's easy to remember. Absolutely.
The less dates, the better.
All right. What was it that made you want to start this business?
Just to be independent. I really felt that there was a lack of knowledge when it came to doing things properly, and especially with homeowners. They seemed more than adamant to get it done properly, which I noticed that there are a lack of said problem, but insurance companies now are requiring that with aluminum wiring, that you have a master electrician write a note. So there was a lack of that as well that I found that I could help people out on, because bureaucracy doesn't really scare me. So that's the reason for starting a company. It's to help people out.
And the being independent, that's a huge thing.
I mean...
Everyone wants to be independent.
My boss is a XXX.
Yeah, I can relate. Cool man, next one. So what services did you provide when you first started out? Was there kind of a couple that you really wanted to focus on? I guess whatever you did for your apprenticeship.
Yeah.
Whatever you had the most experience with.
Yeah. I did have a lot of experience with commercial, but I didn't have the capital going forward to be able to bid on said commercial jobs.
Get all your parts and materials.
So that's why I've backed it off to just strictly residential because I can always front the money and I can always get the money and it's... I know where they live, you know what I mean? I've never had a problem with payment when it comes to that.
Yeah.
I mean, residential seems to be a good way to build up. I mean one, the reputation and two, just the financial backing of a successful company.
People that own homes, they might own a business.
Yeah, exactly.
They might need a building. And if you worked in their home, they liked you.
Yeah. Maybe it'll transpire into a building. Who knows?
Yeah, nice man. Have you branched off into any other specialty services, since you've started or..?
I mean, currently, I have my wife Brianna help me out with police services. So EPS and she uses it at EPS.net, which is essentially a Kijiji for police officers and I've been renowned on there, so to speak. It seems to be successful and working and there just seems to be a lot of traction and positive feedback, and hopefully, that's one avenue. Because it's explored, I can expand on.
So now we can start going to a military base or you know.
Once this quarantine is done, maybe go to a bowling base, or something like that, and continue to just expand.
That'd be pretty interesting.
