Ellis B. McClintick flew as a B-17 “Flying Fortress” navigator in the 390th Bomb Group out of Framlingham, England. From March 18, 1944 to October 25, 1944 McClintick flew a complete tour of 35 combat missions. McClintick recounts his life during the Great Depression as the oldest of seven children raised on a farm near Walnut, Kansas. He describes his many missions including one of the most feared events on an aircraft - an oxygen fire that forced the crew to abandon the plane and bail out. Ellis McClintick passed away on November 12, 2023 at the age of 101.
