Based on a 1st to 2nd base steal; He takes great leads of about 13/14 feet, waits until the pitcher is in motion, gets a great jump then runs over 30 feet per second. That leaves 76 feet of travel to steal second base so he needs about 2.15 seconds to steal from first to second. It's next to impossible for the pitcher to complete his start to finish routine/throw, the ball to make it to the catcher, and the catcher to make a trow to second base in that time. His pure presence on base is intimidating to pitchers, catchers and the rest of the infield causing stress, anxiety and leading towards more errors and inaccuracies. I know they are trying, but dammmmnnn, that's not going to be easy to stop. Watch base stealing videos, this guy is in a league of his own. Not only that, he's a shortstop, that plays 2nd base, 3rd base, and center field that throws cannons between 95 and 98 mph making infield plays that nullify typical 1st base hits over and over again. It's hard not to get excited watching this guy, and lets not forget he was -->

This kind of massive disruption speedsters cause to pitchers is why Rickey Henderson should be considered a top 10 all time player (Maybe top 5) because there are stats that are not really tracked that these base stealers cause pitchers and defense with by getting runs from wild pitches, error throws, balls thrown, wild pitches and on and on.

He doesn't even get the best starts when he steals. But after the first couple of steps its as if he just skips 2nd gear and is in 3rd gear. He is absolutely phenomenal. Its only the middle of May! He has 4.5 months or close to 3/4 of a season to steal PLENTY more! At this rate he could steal 100 bases. I dont think anyone will ever break the 138 stolen bases in a season. But if Elly can stay healthy, i could see him with many rrally high numbers of stolen bases like Ricky Henderson.
I just slowed down the time he got thrown out to .5 speed. He was safe the Reds should have challenged.
