The City of Cape Town has announced plans to expedite its move away from reliance on power utility Eskom. In a council speech, Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis set out a 3-phase Independent Power Plan to buy electricity on the open market. He also announced plans to address apartheid spatial planning and accelerate service delivery.
