so amazing, this just goes to show table tennis is not just about using your arm and wrist to hit the ball. to play the game at a higher level you definitely need footwork and body behind the shots.

i've seen this video about couple years ago and practice it, it really show a great difference when using your weight for the extra power when you try to service. it really make my service much harder to receive by the opponent. good lesson as always by ryu seung min

sometimes, when I'm angry, I accidently put a lot of force and viciousness into my backspin serve and the opponent wonders, just like myself, why he hit it into the net.

@@jrk1666 question is what does he mean by "hit the body" ??
@kenji2787
8 ай бұрын
It looks like stomping is just the byproduct. Normally, in forehand attack, you can your body right to neutral, but this serve is from back to front without rotating body so he lean his body to the right to “move back” causing the left foot to be in the air, then as his whole body quickly falls back to the left side in order to “go forward”, so is his foot causing the stomping.

Yo, I'm new to this sport and stumbled upon this... So about the foot stomp, does it perform before hitting ball or at the same time? Is it "stomp then hit" or "stomp+hit"?
@PDPark

at the same time I think
@floydflupke
4 жыл бұрын
Same time, to camouflage the amount of spin. The amount can be deduced from the sound. Mainly it is noticeable when the opponent does a no spin vs lots of spin with the same movement.
@kioka2
2 жыл бұрын
@@floydflupke You are forgetting the most important thing, in addition to hiding the sound of contact, players like Ryu step hard precisely by "throwing" their body towards the ball with force and speed, You can notice that when he doesn't use his body to assist the spin in the serve he didn't step hard on the ground, amazing technique!

Prabhu Karan It’s an old technique. Players stomp on the ground to hide/cover the sound of the service. Pro players can tell how hard a service was just by the sound.
