I built this forklift modification to lift a roof top tent off of a friend's Tahoe or Denali or whatever it is. He saw someone build an extension for the boom on one of these folding engine hoists. I came up with a slightly different solution.
The video shows us using it before I made a few more changes. At one point, I thought about adding a lever to tilt the forks back. There was a lot of discussion about extending the front legs or adding weight to counter balance the 200 pound load. In the end, it worked pretty well the it was.
I posted a brief video of it on my Instagram account and it that clip got something like 1 million views in less than a week. A lot of questions in the comments there. For example; no, it will not lift the front of your truck.
