A lot of classes with a lab cannot be passed unless the lab section grades are also at a passing level. It can be mental torture when the labs don't have any overlap with exams or homework, especially around midterms.

This is so fucking true. We would spend days studying calculus only for the average score to be 5 over 20. The solutions to one the questions would be at least 3 pages long after solving after the test. Then we would all realize no one is passing the test. But for exams, majority of the class does great.
@MaskedDeath_

@@kishan802 Oh god, yes. 10-30 minutes to learn the theory before the lab class, 30-90 minutes to do everything and note down results, then the lab report takes like 5 hours to make and requires you to explain theory that wasn't even on the lectures (and won't be on the exam) and is way lower-level than required for whatever you were doing for the lab (as in, explaining how the internals of an oscilloscope work even though all you were doing was measuring the dis/charge rate of capacitors)

I had gotten 28.5/30 for the non-exam components and felt like I would perform reasonably well going into the exam. Well as it turns out the exam had a total of 70 marks spread over 3 questions literally meaning every mark = 1% for the subject grade lol 😳😳 and i swear to god that was the hardest exam I ever took, couldn’t finish 2 of the questions, was really scared of failing since i needed a good GPA for medicine, ended up getting a 69 for the subject 😂 - mission accomplished? All I can say is miracles do happen…
