Many Black people have very unrealistic views on how to get out the hood. Notice how he asked them “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” They said music and basketball 🏀 for the kids. Black people gotta realize that rap music and sports is not the answer no more. You can also be successful by working a lucrative job. Everyone is not gonna make it as a rapper or ball player. Being police officers, IT tech, truck drivers, firemen or the medical field along with other realistic jobs can help you be successful also. We ain’t gonna get nowhere trying to be entertainers.

@wnypaisan27 100% Agreed. Many Black parents are DEAD BROKE and can't take care of themselves but keep having kids they can't take care of. Who in their right mind wants to live in this nonsense? You set your kids up or failure for sure.

I always argue with idiots that get offended about other people telling these kids to pick up their pants. They say that it's a style and a black fashion. Once you pick up them pants and change that whole appearance you'll see how quick society accepts you. @@RS-ti7bz they dropped outta high school because its a safety issue when you tied ina streets. so the sell drugs to get by then they get locked up n once you get locked up you cant get a government job so that's like 40% of job opportunities out the window. N most places dont dont hire convicted felons so take another 30% of jobs away now they stuck with minimum wage jobs. You can make more money selling weed in a day then a minimum wage job, so they continue to to sell drugs or be bums...a lot of people are on probation so they cant leave the state n get out...n the lil kids look up to the nigga with the money n guns n the cycle starts over again

First. I'm a white dude who isn't qualified to do anything other than express my sincere hope that these young men find success and happiness. Many years ago, I found myself locked up in prison for 51 months for something I didn't even do. It was one of the most enlightening experiences of my life. I was the minority in that situation and I gained much empathy for all my brothers faced with incarceration. I wrote a book entitled: I WENT TO PRISON AND SO SHOULD YOU! The idea or concept is that if you found yourself labeled a convicted felon until the day you die, you might learn to open your heart and mind to the plights of other people. AND STOP BEING SO JUDGEMENTAL. I wish these young men all happiness and success life can offer. If anyone would like free copy of my book, hit me up.

The fact is. They can as a community make their community amazing. No violence, no drugs, no gangs. Clean, and safe. They choose not to. Because of the influence of the mainstream pop culture glorifying drugs, gangs, being a thug, pimps, sex, etc, and the welfare state. It’s another form of slavery. A mental slavery a concrete prison.

peace& Love That’s true as well. It’s unfortunate that these types of communities ask for hand outs from the same people that oppressed them. Instead of creating school food programs, day care programs, school programs, work programs, life skills programs. Instead of gang banging. What’s even sadder is the fact that the black households had less broken families before segregation.

Zoltan Olah , sad fact is that it doesn't have to be this way. Yes, it will be hard to change, but anything worthwhile in this world is not easy to do, but it CAN be done, and the results are worth it. People need to get enough fire in their bellies to say "enough is enough." People have lived in these bad neighborhoods, and have bettered themselves and gotten out. It's not easy, but is worth it. And there are others out there who will help. Remember, where there is a will, there is a way.

People live in Englewood that go to work and own their homes. Some of the homes are nice and well maintained. The biggest downside to owning a home in Englewood is that you do not bet much equity from it. Real estate values are stagnant and in fact the population of Englewood is shrinking. Crain's Chicago Business did an article about homeowners in Englewood. There are some nice blocks there, but sadly a lot of Englewood is deteriorating. Sadly, I don't see Englewood improving any time soon.
