In Episode 37 we head to our local Pine River to catch some Sandcrabs (blue swimmer crabs) for Christmas.
Being the School Holidays everyone else seems to have the same idea and there's a lot of crab pot floats around.
With the crab pot holder locked into the LinQ system, we pre-bait the pots then drop them off near the Hornibrook Highway.
The crab pots are pop up pots whcih are great for the jetski as the traditional pots are quite hard to put up whilst on a jetski with limited space.
Having tubbies there's plenty of storage for a couple of chairs which we set up with the Cool Cabana and enjoy the sandbank at low tide.
Char (my wife) has been enjoying driving the ski and she runs the length of the Pine River navigating the shallower areas quite well.
We pick up one crab before heading back in to leave them soak over night.
The next day it's slow and steady and we end up with 9 crabs (well minus one we ate - so 8) - for Christmas.
This time last year you would have easily caught 30 crabs - however that's fishing and crabbing and I'm always grateful to catch enough for Christmas.
