For someone who regularly builds 1/72 kits, painting tiny boxes or rectangles on the cockpit walls is something that you just get used to. But an optivisor is almost a must. I really like the way the instrument panel decal is, because it's transparent, it's easier to position it so that the dials match the raised detail. If it was black, it would be half guessing.

thanks for an informative and balanced review - I now know what I'm going to build next. I only build 1/72 so used to the size, although my eyes are not so sure after 50 odd years building that scale! I'm

Really nice to see you get into 1/72. And of course you do them better than me (and I've got a digital microscope to assist my Hookeye vision).

GREAT build guidance ! THANKS. Question: What paint mix did you use for your "NAA green" in the cockpit ?

Great stuff, Will. Arma's 1/72 kits are little gems and must be in the running for best in scale (see their Hurricanes, Hayate and the new Airacobra). I hear your comments on the radio sets and tiny decals but when the fuselage is buttoned up and the canopy installed, how much can you see? But then we all know it's there and it makes us happy that it's right.

I am building an HKM 1/48 b17g for a coworker who’s dad flew one in the war. He spent a substantial amount on PE and I added allot of detail in the bomb bay. Do you have any recommendations for how to mount the plane so he can actually see the bottom of the plane? I read somewhere on Reddit that you might have some sort of rotisserie style mount but I’m not entirely sure. I’d appreciate any insight you can share. I’ve had this thing over a year and I’d say it’s maybe halfway done but I need to start thinking about how to display it before joining the fuselage.

This is brilliant work. I forgot to add that. I bought several tubing based on one of your earlier detail videos so thank you for being so detailed in your explanations.

@@InSidious1805 thanks for the kind words. The amount that I built… It's this ridiculous thing and the simplest way for you to see it is to go look at my P 40 videos. Part two.

Thank you I will go and check it out. I need to purchase that assorted wire set you mentioned - I think I found it on basspro. I’ve been using copper wire of various sizes but maybe the stuff you recommended is easier to work with. I also looked into the company that makes the braided stuff to emulate tubing. I made some oxygen tubes for the model by wrapping copper wire around brass wire it took forever haha I was talking to Nightshift about the model and asked me something along the lines of how I felt about taking on a project for someone else as it cuts into my own personal time. Now I know why he asked. I think I underestimated how long this build was going to take. But if it’s worth doing then it’s worth doing correctly or as correct as possible.

The loss of the PE is no big deal because nobody would ever know in a cockpit of that scale..............Most all cockpit PE is never seen.
