I love the parallel of Orpheus singing about how blinded Hades and Persephone are, seeing what they can't see themselves. Just to be just as blind himself to his own wife.

I love how this animatic doesnt show the normal view that other animatics have of Hades as this like, smarmy CEO and instead shows us a man who just misses his wife and is trying all these things to show her how much she means to him but she rebuffs him at every gesture. This is a man who is at the edge of giving up after trying all he could and been scorned at every step instead of some guy who just comes and kidnaps his wife. It feels more like a broken husband who had to pick up his alcoholic wife after an extended bender, and she's mad at him for ruining her fun. It's a nice flip of the general take on this song.

Yo damn you just changed my entire thought process. I thought Hades was driving persephone away and she was getting drunk because of that?

@@alexmullins1765 I always thought it was both. He's desperately trying to hold onto her, and holding on too hard. She's always eager to leave, not seeing how worried and insecure he is, and doing nothing to reassure him. Ships in the night.

I think it's more than that. He's doing all of this not realizing he's suffocating her which is why she drinks so much just to deal with him. He's doing everything he can to make her stay which is only making her want to leave.

To be fair, smarmy CEO is sort part of the characterisation this musical gives the Hades (which I'm ot a fan iff but whatcanyado onlyway the underlying themes of power mecanics and the setting of mining company town during the gretdepression can mesh)

Okay, probably not intentional on your part, but I noticed throughout most of the song Hades seems very... sincere? He comes across as a genuine and lonely man doing his best to reach out to his wife. I look at his expressions and go "wow he's real pathetic in this animatic huh kinda makes me feel bad Persephone is pushing him away", and THEN, it gets to about 8:00 and his whole demeanour and facial expressions shifts and I'm like "ah there it is. the Bastard."

Awesome job! I love the color contrast and the use of light and shadows! It's so cool how Orpheus sees Hades and Persephone as solid-colored, untouchable mythic figures and they see each other as humans with weird-colored eyes XD

Which could be argued that this is called back to later on in Epic III when Orpheus realizes that, Hades was just like him, a MAN in love. Not a God. Also I like how he sees Hermes as another Human just with weird colored eyes 😂

This is one of the best hadestown animatic I've ever seen, not only made two songs that have that cool transition, you made great designs for the characters (I kinda wanna make fanart not gonna lie) and I love how they interact is this. Basically, I loved your interpretation of the songs and I wish you keep the good work!!
