I really like the 5" square look and I love how fast they sew up. I got excited when I saw the one at the end with a all three different colors. I could really use scraps up. Also the part you cut out of the back I will use for my crumb quilt blocks I'm making. Those are so much fun🌷

I watched this vid and love this 1 seam block...although I’m a novice I decided to use my scraps and make these. I cut 5” squares and cut my white 3 1/2” x 6”. My top edge did not come out even on the top, I decided to cut mine 3 1/4” by 6” and it matched up beautiful on both sides. I don’t much about formulas but it seemed to work

Jean, on episode 55 ( I LOVED the tutorial ) - If I wanted the 2 ends to meet, so the white makes a curved diamond, you said that that would defeat the purpose. How could I make the "curved diamond" in the middle? Easy of course! I love your tutorials.

Thank you, Jean! You have inspired me on what to do with the charm pack I purchased a few days ago! Just beautiful! I have a question that’s kind of off the subject. My husband surprised me with a DreamCreator VQ2400 as an anniversary gift and I’m actually hyperventilating from both excitement and being afraid of it because I’ve never had such an intricate machine! I’ve been reading the manual trying to learn as much as I can before taking on my first project. One feature I absolutely love is the automatic scissor feature but I notice that you always use scissors to manually cut strings after sewing. Is there a reason why?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
7 жыл бұрын
I just love my Brother machine, however, I find that the auto cutter cuts my thread a tad too short and when I next sew, it comes either out the needle or isn't pulled up in the bobbin enough. Perhaps it's just my machine (or me) but I find that my handy dandy scissors are quicker and better!! :) Have fun, breathe into a paper bag and GET SEWING!!! :) LOL!!
@JazzyGems111

Thank you! Well, so far so good on mine. Like I said, I'm just getting to know the machine but you'll be happy to know that your design will be the first quilt I try on it! :)

Hi Jean. I tried this block but I keep coming up with an extra quarter inch on the top. The quarter inch is a single layer. I trimmed it off but I wonder what I am doing wrong. I just experimented to refresh my memory....if you really spread out the top center piece, it will be level with the top. If you keep it a bit lax, you will get that 1/4" on the top edge. I just pulled it gently to make it even. Hope this helps!

However, MY block, that I expanded on, has received many many positive comments as to how I go several steps further than that original idea, therefore making it my own version.
