its a fun game and very creative but it took me quite some time to understand how to play. i wonder how esl students especially little kids understand how to play. it's quite difficult even for me. :) but i appreciate your effort. you're a huuuggeee help for those who are at the beginning of their teaching career. They have a lot to learn from you. you're a great source for everybody, and fun at the same time. i give a thumbs up for all your videos. Thanks a million.

I'm teaching in China at the moment and my students still struggle to understand the concept of "teaming up", but I'm trying to make them understand it with "students vs teacher" games. If I try to divide them in teams they just rush forward in excitement because they really enjoy the game and don't care to wait for their turn xD They've been in school only for 2 months, but once they go past the "one by one" phase I will try this for sure! Thank you :D

Hi there, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! What age are your students? If they have only been going to school for two months they will need some time to settle in and get used to having class. If they are very young 2-4 years old, team games can be tricky as they don't understand the concept of competition. I have actually had three years olds help the opposite team instead of competing haha. You could try something like Bounce: kzitem.info/news/bejne/xLCP0p6IenqTmoo which is a great activity that keeps students' attention without team games. I hope that helps!

@@MooncakeEnglish yes, they definitely need more time. I have students between 2 and 4, but attempted to use teams only with 4 years old. I will check this link you shared now, your videos really help me especially when I run out of ideas for 2yo activities, thank you!

Hi jema ur videos are so helpful.I am also teaching English in China I just wanna ask how u can nake the kids understand easily the rules of the game.I am teaching kindergarten kids so sometimes they can not even understand how to play the game hhhh I just wanna know how to explain it to them
@MooncakeEnglish

Hi Hanen, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! I'm so glad the videos have been helpful 😊 When introducing a new game, one mistake a lot of teachers will make is to use too much English to explain rules, also, teachers try to explain all the rules and processes at once. I would think about the game you want to teach and then split it into different steps. I would then think of one sentence to summaries each step, but limit that sentence to five key words that get the instructions across. Next, I would then explain the first step using that sentence while demonstrating how to do it (you can do this with an assistant or pupil). Once that step is clear, then move onto the next step and do the same. This way, the instructions are being given at a level students can follow and understand and they can visually see each part of the game as you demonstrate. I hope that helps! 😊
